Job Description

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead to support, enhance, and strategically develop the “Aries” Core Banking Platform. The role involves architecting, customizing, and maintaining complex financial applications using CA 2E (Synon) and native RPG on IBM i (AS/400).

The candidate will act as the Level 3 SME, lead critical incident resolutions, govern Synon model integrity, and drive development initiatives for Mortgage and Motor Finance business lines.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Governance

• Act as the primary offshore SME for the Aries platform
• Govern CA 2E (Synon) data models and maintain model integrity
• Ensure adherence to action diagram standards and generation protocols

Complex Development

• Architect and develop complex RPG programs generated from Synon models
• Support Mortgage and Motor Finance business enhancements

P1 Incident Management

• Handle critical P1 incidents and severe batch failures
• Ensure rapid troubleshooting and service restoration

Native RPG Development

• Develop, debug, and optimize ILE RPG / Free-format RPG programs
• Work on integrations outside Synon-generated applications

Database & Performance Optimization

• Optimize DB2/400 database structures and embedded SQL
• Improve overnight batch processing performance

Knowledge Transition

• Drive KT sessions from retiring SMEs
• Create architecture diagrams, runbooks, and technical documentation

Change Management

• Review and approve code/model changes before production deployment
• Ensure zero-defect releases and compliance with banking SLAs

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of strong hands-on experience in IBM i (AS/400) development
• 5+ years of extensive experience with CA 2E (Synon)
• Strong expertise in:
• RPG IV
• ILE RPG
• Free-format RPG
• CL Programming
• Strong understanding of:
• Mortgage lifecycle
• Motor Finance processes
• Interest calculations
• Arrears and reporting
• Experience supporting legacy Green Screen / Black Screen applications
• Advanced knowledge of:
• DB2/400
• Embedded SQL
• SQL Server integration
• Performance tuning
• Experience with ALM and Change Management tools:
• TurnOver
• Implementer
• Aldon

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience in SME transition environments
• Exposure to modernization of Synon/RPG applications:
• API Enablement
• Web Wrappers
• SOA
• ITIL V3 / V4 Foundation Certification
• Familiarity with Jira or Affinity ticketing tools
