Job Description

The missions of the DM - Substation Design are :


  • Will oversee the design and engineering of high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) substations and transmission lines. This role involves managing new projects from the pre-bid stage through to execution, ensuring technical viability, and supporting construction activities. The Engineer will also be responsible for vendor evaluation, market technology assumptions, and new technical developments
  • Manage and coordinate related Engineering work packages with respect to choice of technologies, technical configurations and for setting relevant performance, statutory, safety and quality requirements for multiple projects.
  • Preparation of technical documentation during the contractual negotiations - Business Development stage in Pre-bid projects (in house engineering)
  • Prepare electrical calculations for the listed deliverables such as Overhead line, Transformer, DG, Battery UPS, Earthing, lighting, lightening, short circuit force.
  • Prepare various project specific tender documents such as Request for Purchase for specific equipment & Owners technical specifications.
  • Preparation and review of SLDs & Layouts for 33/ 132/ 220/ 400 kV substation, Protection & metering SLDs for EHV as well as MV & LV of the complete renewable power projects.
  • Preparation & review of layout such as Cable trench/ tray, Equipment’s of Substation & control room, Earthing, Lighting, Lightening.
  • Propose various optimization possibilities from various designs of EPC for the pre-bid projects.
  • Review of all the deliverables with EPC & OE in post bid projects.
  • Review of OEM vendors drawings (Datasheet, GA, Calculations & QAP) for various electrical equipment such as Power transformer, IDTs, OHL, CTs, PTs, CB, Control relay Panels etc.
  • Shall be aware of IEC, IEEE, NFPA standards with grid regulations such as SEC, TRANSCO, CEA for all the above said engineering calculations.
  • Actively involve in Factory Acceptance test for all critical equipment during the detail engineering phase
  • Work closely with the procurement and construction team to meet the organizational goals.
  • Support & provide solutions on failures, RCA & technical queries across all sites in ENGIE. Have constructive dialogue with O&M & Engineering team to capture lessons learnt.
  • Support & propose on new standardization/ R&D initiatives for the electrical calculations, Layouts & other deliverables.
  • Actively coordinates with all internal team members (design, commissioning & Grid code compliance) and external team members (Reginal managers, O&M, Procurement) of multiple projects.


Pre-requisites:


  • Location : Pune / Remote
  • Degree in an Electrical engineering discipline, bachelors or masters
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the power generation/ Oil and gas or equivalent sector with experience in design & detail engineering of complete plant
  • Knowledge on power system design (ability to do load flow, short circuit, relay coordination in ETAP/ Power factory).
  • Handled technical negotiations with supplier, EPCs
  • Performed Factory audits & FAT inspections for electrical equipment.
  • Managed/ mentored cross functional team (National/ International) with technical expertise would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence with various open source models would be advantageous.
