- Design, develop, and test optical systems for a wide range of applications, from concept to production.
- Analyze system requirements and translate them into optical system and component specifications.
- Conduct optical simulations using appropriate computational tools, such as Zemax, Code V, FRED, LightTools, etc.
- Validate optical system performance through bench top and real-world testing. Review and interpret these performance results and make appropriate adjustments.
- Provide optical expertise to support multidisciplinary design teams.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to develop optical-mechanical integration strategies.
- Oversee fabrication and assembly of optical components and systems, ensuring quality and compliance with specifications.
- Work closely with project management to meet or exceed project deadlines, budgets, and quality criteria.
- Write comprehensive technical documents, including test plans, test reports, design descriptions, and verification and validation plans.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in optical engineering to ensure innovative approaches to problem solving.
