Role Overview

We are looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to join our Core Engineering organization at SolarWinds. This role requires strong technical ownership, deep CI/CD and platform engineering expertise, and the ability to design scalable, secure, and reliable developer infrastructure. The team is responsible for enabling the platforms, automation, and delivery capabilities that help engineering teams build, test, deploy, and operate high-quality services efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Support and optimize CircleCI and hybrid CI environments, including self-hosted runners and executors.
  • Partner with Software Engineering and SRE teams to improve build, test, and deployment workflows.
  • Develop automation, platform tooling, and internal services using Go or similar languages.
  • Implement and promote CI/CD security best practices, including secrets management, image signing, policy enforcement, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Contribute to platform architecture decisions, technical standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Improve build performance, reliability, and developer productivity through automation and self-service capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and help raise the bar for operational excellence across the platform.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, site reliability, or related roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with CircleCI or a comparable SaaS CI/CD platform such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD design patterns, build systems, release workflows, and automation best practices.
  • Software engineering background with the ability to write, maintain, and review production-quality code.
  • Experience with Go, or willingness to work with Go and AI-assisted coding tools in day-to-day development.
  • Strong experience with cloud-native infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code practices.
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD security concepts, including IAM, OIDC, secrets management, and secure software supply chain practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical direction across teams.
