Workdpress Developer
We are looking for a skilled WordPress Developer who can independently handle ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and new feature development across multiple WordPress websites.
This role requires deep understanding of WordPress internals, including Gutenberg, theme/child theme architecture, custom plugin development, WordPress APIs, and performance & SEO best practices.
Key Responsibilities
WordPress Development & Maintenance
Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing WordPress websites.
Develop custom WordPress themes and child themes based on design requirements.
Customize and extend Gutenberg blocks and block-based themes.
Build and maintain custom WordPress plugins to implement business-specific functionality.
Handle WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates safely without breaking existing features.
Core WordPress & APIs
Work with WordPress Hooks (Actions & Filters) to extend functionality.
Develop and consume WordPress REST APIs for integrations.
Implement custom post types, taxonomies, and meta fields.
Ensure compatibility with WordPress coding standards and best practices.
Performance, Security & SEO
Optimize website performance (caching, asset optimization, query optimization).
Implement basic WordPress security best practices (nonces, sanitization, escaping).
Support SEO activities using WordPress tools (Yoast, RankMath, or similar).
Ensure proper SEO structure: metadata, schema, URLs, performance, and mobile friendliness.
Collaboration & Quality
Work closely with designers, backend teams, and project leads / stake holders.
Perform debugging and root-cause analysis for production issues.
Maintain clean, documented, and version-controlled code (Git).
Required Skills & Experience
Must-Have Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with WordPress core development.
Deep understanding of:
Gutenberg editor & block concepts
Themes & child themes
Custom plugin development
WordPress hooks, filters, and APIs
Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
Experience working with page builders (Elementor / WPBakery / others) - with ability to extend or optimize beyond basic usage.
Solid understanding of MySQL and WordPress database structure.
Experience with SEO plugins and on-page optimization.
Familiarity with performance optimization and caching techniques.
Experience using Git/version control.
Good to Have
Gutenberg custom block development (ACF blocks or native blocks).
WooCommerce customization.
Headless WordPress or REST-based integrations.
Experience working with hosting environments (cPanel, Cloud, CDN, staging setups).
Experience & Qualification
4+ years of real-world WordPress development experience.
Proven experience maintaining and extending live WordPress websites.
Degree in Computer Science / IT or equivalent practical experience.
