Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on managing and optimizing our Computer-Aided Design (CAD) systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration, experience with CAD tools, and a passion for ensuring the reliability and performance of our engineering infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration: Design, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers and workstations used for CAD applications. Ensure high availability, usage optimization and performance of these systems.
- CAD Management: Support and manage CAD tools and environments, including installation, configuration, license management and troubleshooting. Work closely with engineering teams to understand their requirements and provide solutions.
- Automation: Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline system management tasks, such as software deployment, system monitoring, and backup processes.
- Security: Implement and maintain security measures to protect CAD systems and data. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and resource utilization. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to ensure smooth operation of CAD applications.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration and operation of CAD systems. Provide technical support and guidance to users.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux system administration, with a focus on supporting Grid/scheduling systems and License environments (FlexLM)
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu), scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python), version control (e.g., GIT, Gitlab), and CAD tools (e.g., Questa (Modelsim), Xcelium or VCS).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, CompTIA Linux+) are a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of network protocols and services (e.g., DNS, DHCP, NFS).
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
