The Role

The role focuses on underwriting, marketing, and portfolio management across Commercial Lines-including Marine, Casualty and Financial lines, Specie and other lines we may plan for-within our reinsurance operations based in GIFT City, India. The underwriter will play a key role in strengthening our position as a leading reinsurance market by building and managing strong cedant relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering solutions where our products bring meaningful value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting in accordance with company guidelines for Commercial Lines products like marine, casualty and financial lines products
  • Manage renewal retention and achieve new business targets
  • Develop and maintain relationships with distribution partners (cedant, brokers)
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for distribution partners engagement, including supporting materials for events and marketing initiatives
  • Provide product, marketing, and technical training to distribution partners
  • Ensure assigned budget and KPI goals are met
  • Seek ways to improve organizational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management

The Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • General Insurance Industry Certified qualification
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant Insurance industry experience in underwriting and/or business development
  • Ability to combine entrepreneurial & commercial approach with prudent underwriting
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - ability to identify and make the most of opportunities, overcome and learn from setbacks, resilient, adaptable
  • Positive "can do" attitude
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Good presentation skills and ability to conduct training for intermediaries
  • Operation of Excel, Outlook and all standard business computer programs

Desired:

  • Experience in Commercial Lines products like marine, casualty and financial products is preferred but not necessary
  • Experience in project management is a bonus
  • Tertiary qualifications in Insurance or related discipline
