Role Overview

A Sterling EDI Integrator Consultant works with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator to design, implement, and support Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions between business partners, ensuring seamless data exchange across supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop EDI/B2B integrations using IBM Sterling Integrator
• Configure and manage:
  • Business processes (BPML)
  • Communication protocols (AS2, FTP, SFTP, HTTP)
• Handle EDI standards such as:
  • ANSI X12
  • EDIFACT
• Map EDI documents to application formats and vice versa
• Monitor EDI transactions and troubleshoot failures
• Onboard new trading partners and manage partner profiles
• Work on message transformation using maps (e.g., graphical mapper)
• Integrate Sterling with backend systems like:
  • SAP ERP
  • Oracle or other ERPs
• Ensure data security, encryption, and compliance
• Perform system upgrades, patches, and performance tuning
• Provide production support and resolve incidents

Required Skills

• Strong experience in IBM Sterling B2B Integrator
• Knowledge of EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT)
• Hands-on with:
  • BPML (Business Process Modeling Language)
  • Mapping tools (Sterling Mapper)
• Understanding of communication protocols (AS2, FTP/SFTP, HTTP/S)
• Experience in trading partner setup and onboarding
• Debugging and troubleshooting EDI flows
• Basic Linux/Unix knowledge
• SQL knowledge for database queries

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field
• 2–6+ years of experience in EDI / Sterling Integrator

Good-to-Have

• Experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway
