Database Developer

(Track 5 - Database Modernization)

Role Overview

The Database Developer will lead database modernization initiatives including migration from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL, performance tuning, and high-availability architecture design.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize MS SQL Server queries (execution plans, indexing, locking analysis)
• Perform T-SQL to PL/pgSQL conversions
• Execute migrations using AWS SCT & AWS DMS
• Design and manage Aurora PostgreSQL environments
• Implement Multi-AZ, read replicas, failover strategies
• Configure connection pooling (PgBouncer, RDS Proxy)
• Develop ETL processes and perform data validation
• Implement backup & point-in-time recovery strategies
• Ensure performance benchmarking post-migration

Required Technical Skills

• MS SQL Server 2016 (deep architecture knowledge)
• PostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL
• Query optimization & index tuning
• AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)
• AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)
• Transaction management & locking analysis
• High Availability architecture
