Rekise Marine - Senior Robotics Engineer (Perception)
Position: Senior Robotics Engineer - Perception (Full-time)
Location: Bengaluru, India
Working days: 5 days WFO
About the the Company
Rekise Marine is building autonomous ships and submarines that operate in the world's most hostile environments. We're executing India's flagship autonomous submarine project - the Jalkapi XLAUV - on order from the Indian Navy. This is an unmanned submarine weighing over 20 tons that can travel 5,000+ kilometers autonomously and operate in the ocean for 30+ days at a time. We're creating some of the largest autonomous robots in the world, machines with direct impact on the global economy and national security. While autonomous cars in India may still be a dream, autonomous ships and submarines are already a reality, and it is possible to build for the world from India.
The Role
We're seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer specializing in Perception to develop the sensory
intelligence for our autonomous submarines. You'll build AI/ML pipelines that enable submarines to
understand their underwater environment using sonar, cameras, and acoustic sensors in some of the
most challenging perceptual conditions on Earth. This role involves designing multi-sensor fusion
frameworks, implementing real-time object detection and tracking systems, and ensuring robust
perception under extreme conditions including turbidity, low-light, and noisy acoustic environments.
You'll transform raw sensor data into actionable intelligence that enables safe autonomous navigation
and mission execution.
Key Responsibilities
AI/ML Perception Pipelines: Develop end-to-end AI/ML pipelines for sonar, LiDAR, radar, and
camera-based perception. Implement deep learning models for underwater scene
understanding, object classification, and anomaly detection in marine environments.
Multi-Sensor Fusion: Design and implement multi-sensor fusion frameworks combining
acoustic, optical, and electromagnetic sensors for comprehensive environmental awareness.
Develop robust algorithms that handle sensor degradation and failure gracefully.
Real-time Detection & Tracking: Implement real-time object detection, segmentation, and
tracking for underwater missions including obstacle avoidance, seabed mapping, and target
identification. Optimize algorithms for embedded deployment with strict latency requirements.
Robust Underwater Perception: Enhance perception robustness under challenging conditions
including turbidity, low-light, pressure variations, and acoustic noise. Develop adaptive
algorithms that maintain performance across varying environmental conditions.
Model Optimization & Deployment: Apply optimization techniques (quantization, pruning,
distillation) to deploy complex models on resource-constrained embedded systems. Ensure
real-time performance on submarine compute platforms.
Data Pipeline & Training: Build complete ML pipelines including data collection, annotation,
training, and edge inference. Develop synthetic data generation and augmentation strategies for
underwater scenarios.
