Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President - IT Operations to lead and manage our global IT operations team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes data centres, networks, servers, storage, cloud platforms, and end-user computing.
Candidate needs to have strong expertise in IT infrastructure management (both cloud and on-premise), IT security, and operations for IT/ITES & BPO specific industries.
This role will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, security compliance, and the scalability of our technological environment, while leading a high-performing team of professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute infrastructure strategies aligned with business goals.
Lead modernization initiatives including cloud migration, automation, and digital transformation.
Operations Management:
Oversee day-to-day operations of IT infrastructure including incident, problem, and change management.
Serve as the escalation point for complex IT operational issues and incidents
Ensure uptime, performance, and reliability of systems and services.
Oversee disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity initiatives
Oversee development, staging, and production environments ensuring minimal downtime and high availability for client-facing platforms.
Oversee cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) and on-premise infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance.
Ensure timely and effective IT operations in line with ITIL best practices.
Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers and support staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure infrastructure complies with security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement robust defence mechanisms.
Design & implement proactive measures to prevent security breaches.
Vendor & Budget Management:
Manage relationships with infrastructure vendors and service providers.
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost optimization initiatives.
Monitoring & Reporting:
Implement monitoring tools and dashboards for proactive issue detection.
Provide regular reports on infrastructure health, performance, and KPIs to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Desired Skills
Experience: 18yrs to 25 yrs
Relevant experience - 10yrs+ as a IT Operations Leader in a Software/BPO company
Education: B.E/BTech
Strong understanding of data governance and IP protection for KPO operations.
Strong experience with Cloud & on premise server Infrastructure.
Competencies -Technical / Functional:
1.Infrastructure Architecture & Design
oExpertise in designing scalable, secure, and resilient IT infrastructure.
oStrong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks.
2.Cloud Technologies
oHands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
oKnowledge of cloud migration strategies, hybrid cloud setups, and cost optimization.
3.Network & Security
oProficiency in LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls, load balancers, and network monitoring tools.
oFamiliarity with network security protocols, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and zero-trust architecture.
4.Data Center & Server Management
oExperience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), server provisioning, and storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
oKnowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
5.Monitoring & Automation
oProficiency in infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios)
oExperience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python scripting)
6.IT Service Management (ITSM)
oStrong understanding of ITIL processes including incident, problem, change, and asset management.
oExperience with ITSM platforms
7.End-User Computing
oOversight of desktop support, endpoint management, and VDI solutions.
oFamiliarity with MDM tools and remote support technologies.
8.Compliance & Governance
oKnowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
oAbility to implement and audit infrastructure controls and policies.
9.Capacity Planning & Performance Tuning
oSkills in forecasting infrastructure needs and optimizing system performance.
10.Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity
oExperience in designing and testing DR/BCP plans across critical systems.
