Job Purpose:

To lead, plan, and execute the development of new products from concept to market launch, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals, customer requirements, and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Product Strategy & Planning:
    • Identify and evaluate market opportunities for new products based on market trends, customer feedback, and competitor analysis.
    • Define product roadmaps, timelines, and development priorities aligned with business objectives.
    • Prepare feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis for proposed products.
  2. New Product Development:
    • Lead the design, prototyping, and testing phases of new products, ensuring adherence to quality and cost targets.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams (design, production, procurement, quality) to drive timely product development.
    • Prepare and monitor project budgets and timelines.
  3. Market & Customer Analysis:
    • Gather and analyze customer needs, market gaps, and competitor products to define product specifications.
    • Conduct customer trials and collect feedback for refining products before full-scale launch.
  4. Supplier & Material Coordination:
    • Liaise with suppliers for new material/component identification, trials, and approvals.
    • Collaborate with the purchase team for sourcing and cost negotiations of new materials.
  5. Quality & Compliance:
    • Ensure all new products comply with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Document and maintain technical specifications, product BOMs, and work instructions.
  6. Product Launch:
    • Plan and coordinate pilot production runs and commercial production ramp-up.
    • Support sales and marketing teams with product training and technical information for effective market launch.
  7. Continuous Improvement:
    • Analyze product performance post-launch for further improvement opportunities.
    • Implement feedback received from customers and sales teams for enhancing product features and performance.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of product design, materials, and manufacturing processes (stationery/packaging/related industry preferred).
  • Market research and data analysis capabilities.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Product Design, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5-8 years of experience in product development, preferably in the stationery, FMCG, or manufacturing sector.
  • Proven track record of managing new product development projects from concept to launch.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Number of successful new products launched within planned timelines and budgets.
  • Achievement of target product margins.
  • Customer satisfaction and feedback on new products.
  • Reduction in product development cycle time.
  • Cost savings through material optimization and process improvements.
