About The Job:
JD 1:
  • Entry-level engineer responsible for real-time monitoring, first-line troubleshooting, and ticket lifecycle management for network incidents. Works with runbooks and escalates to Tier 2/3 for complex issues. Typical of 24×7 operations environments.
  • Capability alignment (Wacker levels)
  • Primary: Level 2–3 (Assist → Apply)
  • Exposure: Level 5 activities only as a contributor (shadowing/review support)
Key Responsibilities
  • Event Monitoring & Incident Management — (Level 3 Apply)
  • Monitor network alerts (NMS/telemetry/syslog) and identify anomalies impacting availability/performance.
  • Perform L1 triage: validate incident, scope/impact, basic diagnosis (L1–L3).
  • Open/update tickets; follow escalation matrix; provide timely status updates and handovers.
  • Configuration & Release Management — (Level 3 Apply, supervised)
  • Execute standard/pre-approved changes (e.g., VLAN/port changes, basic ACL updates) and record evidence.
  • Support patching/maintenance windows: pre-checks, post-checks, and documentation of outcomes.
  • Infrastructure Operations — (Assist → Apply)
  • Maintain device inventory, configuration backups, and documentation updates (diagrams/runbooks/KB).
  • Assist in investigating recurring operational issues; contribute to PIR/RCA evidence collection.
  • Network Design — (Exposure / Assist)
  • Support seniors with baseline checks (standards compliance, documentation completeness) and implementation checklists.
Required Skills (Technical)
  • Fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, STP basics, routing basics, Wi Fi fundamentals.
  • Cisco basics: IOS/NX-OS “show”/health checks; awareness of Nexus concepts (vPC basics exposure is a plus).
  • Ticketing + documentation discipline; ability to work shifts/on-call as per NOC needs.
  • Certifications (preferred)
  • CCNA (required); CCNP track “in progress” is a plus.
  • Deliverables / KPIs (examples)
  • SLA compliance for acknowledgement/triage; ticket quality (categorization, evidence, handover completeness).

  • Network design (L5 Ensure, advise): Assist only (documentation checks, implementation checklists)

JD 2:
  • Junior Expert – NOC Network Engineer (Tier 2) - 3–5 years
  • Tier 2 engineer owning complex incident resolution, change implementation, and operational improvement. Acts as escalation point for Tier 1 and coordinates with vendors/other teams.
  • Capability alignment (Wacker levels)
  • Primary: Level 3–4 (Apply → Enable)
  • Partial ownership: Level 5 “Ensure, advise” in defined areas (e.g., WLAN operations, Catalyst/Nexus/ISE domain, monitoring improvements)
Key Responsibilities
  • Event Monitoring & Incident Management — (Level 3 Apply; often Level 4 Enable)
  • Troubleshoot non-routine incidents across LAN/WLAN, including intermittent issues, routing instability, and Wi Fi auth/roaming problems.
  • Lead incident bridges for network P1/P2; coordinate escalations and ensure restoration within SLA.
  • Produce incident summaries and contribute to RCA/preventive actions.
  • Configuration & Release Management — (Level 3 Apply)
  • Plan and execute change tasks: firmware upgrades, config deployments, compliance checks, rollback plans.
  • Maintain configuration standards, backups, and audit-ready evidence.
  • Infrastructure Operations — (toward Level 5 Ensure, advise)
  • Improve monitoring fidelity (alert tuning, correlation, noise reduction) and implement runbook enhancements.
  • Contribute to automation (scripts/Ansible) for checks, backups, compliance, and faster diagnostics (CCNP-level “assurance + automation” orientation).
  • Network Design — (Support Level 5 Ensure, advise)
  • Review LLDs and implementation plans for operability, monitoring hooks, resiliency, and recovery routines.
Required Skills (Technical)
  • Strong troubleshooting: VLAN/STP, EtherChannel, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP exposure), QoS basics, VPN/Wi Fi authentication awareness (802.1X).
  • Cisco WLAN operations: controllers/APs, site-survey awareness; wireless security (WPA2/3, 802.1X).
  • Cisco Catalyst/IOS/Nexus/ISE operations (vPC awareness, HA concepts, upgrade planning support.
  • Certifications (preferred)
  • CCNP Enterprise (preferred) or demonstrable CCNP-equivalent skills in infra, assurance, security, and automation.
  • Capability to perform Wacker NOC tasks
  • Network design (L5 Ensure, advise): Support / co-review (operability, resiliency, monitoring requirements)
  • Infrastructure operations (L5 Ensure, advise): Enable in parts (monitoring improvements, automation contributions)
  • Monitoring & incidents (L3 Apply): Strong Apply / Enable (lead P2, support P1, mentor Tier 1) Config & release (L3 Apply): Apply independently (changes, upgrades, patch lifecycle support)
JD 3:
  • Mid-level Network Operations Specialist / Senior NOC Engineer (Tier 3 / SME) — 5+ years (1 FTE)
  • Senior engineer accountable for operational excellence and reliability—owns major incident technical leadership, drives design verification, automation, and upgrade/recovery routines for Cisco Enterprise Switching and WLAN environments.
  • Capability alignment (your levels)
  • Primary: Level 4–5 (Enable → Ensure, advise)
  • Acts as NOC SME for: Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/ACI/ISE + WLAN (RF/auth) + assurance/automation
Key Responsibilities
  • Network Design — (Level 5 Ensure, advise)
  • Own design reviews/verification: standards compliance, segmentation, HA/resiliency, monitoring/telemetry requirements, and recovery routines.
  • Define and validate runbooks for failover, DR drills, and non-disruptive maintenance patterns (e.g., vPC considerations).
  • Infrastructure Operations — (Level 5 Ensure, advise)
  • Lead operational optimization: capacity/performance improvements, alert strategy, lifecycle/EoL risk management.
  • Drive automation and assurance practices aligned to CCNP-level capability (automation + assurance + security fundamentals).
  • Event Monitoring & Incident Management — (Level 3 Apply; often Level 5 during major incidents)
  • Serve as technical lead for P1 incidents, deep troubleshooting (packet captures, log/telemetry correlation), and cross-team coordination.
  • Own RCA quality: identify systemic fixes and ensure follow-through (CAPA).
  • Configuration & Release Management — (Level 3 Apply; governance at Level 5)
  • Own upgrade/patch strategy for Catalyst/Nexus/ISE and WLAN: compatibility checks, sequencing, validation, and rollback planning.
  • Maintain gold templates/baselines and ensure configuration compliance across domains.
Required Skills (Technical)
  • Expert troubleshooting: L2/L3, routing (OSPF/BGP), HA, QoS, segmentation, wireless security (WPA3/802.1X) and RF performance.
  • Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/ISE SME with vPC best practices and operational lifecycle awareness.
  • Proven ability to design/operate enterprise LAN/WLAN environments and improve monitoring and automation (Terraform/Python/Ansible).
  • Certifications (preferred)
  • CCNP Enterprise strongly preferred (or CCNP Wireless equivalent track), reflecting enterprise infrastructure + assurance + automation breadth.
  • Capability to perform Wacker NOC tasks (Mid-level)
  • Network design (L5 Ensure, advise): Own / Ensure & advise (review, optimize, recovery routines)
  • Infrastructure operations (L5 Ensure, advise): Own (automation, operational/security investigations, proactive improvement)
  • Monitoring & incidents (L3 Apply): Lead & govern (major incident technical lead, coaching, improving playbooks)
  • Config & release (L3 Apply): Own strategy + execute complex changes (Catalyst/Nexus/ISE/WLAN upgrades, validation).
