Job title: VMware & Wintel 3 rd Line Engineer
Team: Dynamic IT Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure
Location: Bangalore
Key purpose of the role:
You'll be part of a highly skilled operations team that manages a large on-premise cloud platform which runs BT's entire business. The platform consists of over 4000 VMware ESXi hosts and 50000 VM's.
You'll have full end to end knowledge of the cloud stack and be able to administer, analyse, trend and troubleshoot specific issues.
What you'll be doing:
  • Own complex service issues on our on-premise Enterprise Cloud platform. Ensuring that the customer experience is priority.
  • Be able to work unsupervised performing ESXi host build & upgrade work.
  • Perform other ad-hoc change work such as VM Migrations, Port-Group Creations, Firmware & driver updates.
  • Provide stakeholder communications for incidents. Provide summary of technical updates to our Service Management Team (CSOC) and Senior Management Team
  • Implement improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Produce on-line documentation for any regular tasks undertaken
  • Ensure adherence to SLAs by following approved processes and change procedures
The skills & experience you'll need:

Required skills

  • Detailed knowledge of VMWare vSphere platforms.
  • Good experience of Host Build & Upgrade.
  • Expert analytical skills understanding complex issues.
  • Good networking skills.
  • Good understanding of storage including connectivity (Fibre\FCoE\iSCSI).

Desirable Skills

  • VMWare NSX.
  • VMware vSAN.
  • VMware tools including vROPS.

Qualifications

VMware VCP / MCSA / MCSE would be a plus.
