  • The Senior Mainframe Production Support Lead is responsible for ensuring 24x7 stability, availability, and operational excellence of Life Insurance applications running on a z VSE mainframe platform.
  • Provides L2 and L3 production support, leads incident triage and resolution, ensures SLA compliance, and supports critical batch and online insurance processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Production Support and Operations.
  • Provide L2 and L3 production support for AIL mainframe insurance applications.
  • Monitor and ensure successful completion of daily, weekly, and monthly batch cycles.
  • Support batch cycle execution including job monitoring, restarts, reruns, and data corrections.
  • Perform abend analysis, issue resolution, and production recovery activities.
  • Ensure end to end data flow and coordinate with upstream and downstream systems.
  • Incident, Problem and Change Management.
  • Perform incident triage, prioritization, and assignment.
  • Conduct in-depth incident analysis, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Apply temporary fixes to restore services when required.
  • Identify root causes and coordinate permanent fixes with application teams.
  • Manage incidents, problems, and changes using ServiceNow and Jira.
  • Participate in change, release, and deployment activities.
  • Technical Analysis and SME Support.
  • Analyze and resolve issues involving Assembler, Easytrieve, COBOL, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
  • Act as Application SME supporting Production Assurance teams.
  • Work closely with application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Documentation and Continuous Improvement.
  • Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation.
  • Identify improvement opportunities for operational efficiency and risk reduction.
  • Support audit, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • On Call and Production Coverage.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for P1 and P2 incidents.
  • Provide after hours, weekend, and holiday support.
  • Ensure rapid response and effective communication during outages.
  • SLA and ITIL Management.
  • Ensure SLA adherence for incident response and resolution.
  • Track incident backlog, trends, and RCA actions.
  • Apply ITIL best practices across incident, problem, change, and release management.
  • Support SLA reporting, audits, and compliance activities.

Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience.

  • 10+ years of experience in L2 and L3 mainframe production support in 24x7 environments.
  • Strong experience with z VSE and z OS platforms.
  • Hands-on expertise in Assembler, Easytrieve, COBOL, CICS, JCL, and VSAM.
  • Strong experience in batch operations including job monitoring, reruns, restarts, and abend analysis.
  • Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow and Jira.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL processes including Incident, Problem, Change, and Release management.
  • Experience in Life Insurance domain and policy administration systems preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production recovery skills.
  • Experience handling P1 and P2 incidents in SLA-driven environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Strong ownership mindset focusing on reliability and business continuity.
  • Leadership capability to manage cross functional teams during critical incidents.
