Brand Manager & Marketing lead
Job Description
About FurnitureOne
FurnitureOne is a new retail venture launching in Bengaluru — a curated furniture showroom built for the design-conscious urban home. Backed by Decorpot, India's vertically-integrated home interior design and manufacturing company, FurnitureOne is being built ground-up as a distinct brand: physical-first, taste-led, and experience-driven, with a digital backbone that surrounds the showroom rather than replacing it.
This is a category bet. India's loose-furniture market is large, fragmented, and badly served by both the marketplaces (commoditised) and the legacy retailers (uninspired). FurnitureOne is being designed to occupy the considered-purchase, design-led segment of this market — and we're hiring the founding marketing leader who can build that brand from scratch.
The opportunity
Own marketing end-to-end for FurnitureOne. This is a founder-shaped role inside a backed business — you'll set brand positioning, build the customer acquisition engine for the showroom, run the digital + social + content for the brand, and partner directly with the showroom and merchandising teams on customer experience. As FurnitureOne expands to additional stores, you'll architect the multi-store marketing model.
You won't be deep into any one specialism — you'll be wide across all of them, with senior support from the broader Decorpot marketing leadership on shared resources (performance infrastructure, analytics, creative production). The role is for a generalist with strong brand instincts and operator chops, not a specialist.
What you'll own
• Brand and positioning. FurnitureOne's identity, voice, narrative, visual system. You'll work with senior creative leadership to land this, then defend it as the brand grows.
• Customer acquisition for the showroom. Footfall is your North Star. Hyper-local digital, BTL, partnerships, influencer pipelines, community events. Whatever drives qualified design-conscious customers into the showroom.
• Digital presence. Website, social channels, content, lifecycle. You own the digital storytelling that surrounds the physical experience.
• Retail marketing & in-store experience. Window displays, signage, in-store events, gifting moments, customer journey design from doorstep to checkout. Partner with the showroom team to make the space sing.
• Performance marketing oversight. You're not running performance yourself — you'll have a Performance Operator on the F1 team and senior performance infrastructure shared from Decorpot — but you own the brief, the targets, and the integration with brand work.
• Decorpot cross-sell. Decorpot's interior design business is FurnitureOne's most natural acquisition channel. You'll architect how F1 shows up in Decorpot's client journey — and how this scales as both businesses grow.
• P&L partnership. Work tightly with FurnitureOne business leadership on marketing-driven revenue. You're accountable to brand outcomes AND to commercial outcomes.
• Team building. Inherit a small team (Performance Operator + Social Executive) and grow it as the business scales — likely doubling within 18 months as F1 expands.
What you bring
• 7-10 years marketing experience, with at least 3 years owning a brand or category end-to-end. You've built or co-built a brand, not just supported one.
• Retail or D2C lifestyle category fluency. You've marketed a brand where physical experience matters — fashion, furniture, beauty, hospitality, lifestyle D2C. You understand how digital surrounds physical, not the other way around.
• Genuine brand-building instincts. You have a point of view on positioning, naming, narrative, voice. You can articulate why a brand works or doesn't work in a sentence.
• Generalist depth across marketing levers. Brand + digital + content + performance + lifecycle + partnerships. You're not deep in any one, but you've operated all of them. You know enough to brief specialists well and judge their work.
• Operator mindset. You move fast, ship things, measure outcomes, course-correct. You like building over polishing. You can run a campaign with a small team and limited brief.
• AI-native workflow. Daily user of Claude/GPT, Midjourney/Veo, AI design tools, AI lifecycle tooling. You produce more with less using these tools, and you can talk concretely about your stack.
• Founder energy. You're excited by zero-to-one. You're not asking for an inherited playbook; you're motivated by writing one.
• Commercial accountability. You've owned marketing-driven revenue or footfall as a primary metric, not just brand health metrics. You can defend a marketing P&L to a CEO.
Why this role
• Genuinely founder-shaped role inside a backed business. You get the ambiguity, decision velocity, and brand-building scope of an early-stage venture, with the resources, infrastructure, and platform of a scaled business behind you.
• Real category opportunity. India's loose-furniture market is large and badly served at the considered-purchase end. The white space is real.
• Build the brand, then scale it. Start at one showroom, build the playbook, then scale as the business expands. Few roles offer that arc inside an established company.
• Career trajectory. Head of Brand / VP Marketing path within FurnitureOne as the business scales, or broader CMO opportunities across the Decorpot group.
