Role Overview

We are looking for a witty, culturally aware and highly creative Comedy Writer to develop engaging, humorous and relatable content for social media video formats such as Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and YouTube videos. The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of observational humour, satire, everyday storytelling and internet culture, with the ability to create content that resonates deeply with Gen Z and millennial audiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualise and write original comedy-led content ideas for social-first video platforms.
• Develop sharp, entertaining and relatable scripts rooted in everyday situations, cultural observations and trending topics.
• Write across multiple formats including sketches, dialogues, monologues, spoof concepts, situational comedy and short-form scripts.
• Bring together humour, storytelling and cultural relevance to create highly engaging content.
• Collaborate closely with directors, creators, editors and production teams to execute content seamlessly.
• Stay updated on pop culture, social media trends, memes, internet behaviour and audience preferences.
• Adapt writing style basis different creators, platforms and brand tonality.
• Brainstorm new recurring formats, characters and series ideas that can be scaled across platforms.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Proven experience as a Comedy Writer, Script Writer or Content Writer in a digital-first environment.
• Strong understanding of Gen Z and millennial culture, humour, language and social media behaviour.
• Excellent command over English, with the ability to write natural, conversational and impactful scripts.
• Ability to write sharp punchlines, relatable humour and compelling storytelling.
• Strong understanding of short-form video content and social-first storytelling.
• Comfortable writing across different formats including dialogues, sketches, spoofs, voiceovers and creator-led content.
• Highly creative, proactive, collaborative and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

• Experience writing for creators, influencers, YouTube channels, Instagram Reels or other social-first platforms.
• Prior exposure to lifestyle, entertainment, comedy or youth-focused brands.
• Familiarity with meme culture, viral trends and emerging internet conversations.
• Experience working with production teams, creators or digital agencies is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, Advertising or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in comedy writing, script writing or content writing for digital/video-first platforms.
• Strong portfolio showcasing humour-led scripts, sketches, short-form storytelling or creator content.
