Job Title: Manager / Senior Executive – Application Technology (Manufacturing Industries)
Department: Application Technology – Manufacturing Industries (MI)
Location: As per business requirement
Reports To: Head of Application (MI)
Purpose of the Position
The purpose of this role is to develop, establish, and implement Application Technology solutions within the Manufacturing Industries (MI) segment to support the growth of industrial gas sales. The role focuses on promoting gas-based applications in metal fabrication, cutting, welding, and other metal joining processes through value-added technical solutions, customer engagement, and application-based selling.
Principal Responsibilities
Business Development & Application Promotion
- Promote industrial gas-based solutions in identified growth segments such as metal fabrication, cutting, welding, and other metal joining processes.
- Drive application-based and value-added selling to increase gas consumption and strengthen market presence.
- Identify and develop new customers and application opportunities within the Manufacturing Industries segment.
- Achieve MI (AT) targets assigned by the immediate line manager.
Customer Engagement & Technical Support
- Visit customer facilities to understand manufacturing processes, welding procedures, quality requirements, and operational challenges.
- Evaluate customer requirements and qualify prospects for further technical and commercial engagement.
- Conduct technical discussions, presentations, demonstrations, and application trials at customer sites.
- Provide technical services and value-added solutions to improve customer productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Project Implementation & Coordination
- Coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure readiness and successful execution of demonstrations and trials.
- Work closely with Merchant Business, Customer Engineering Services (CES), Distribution, and other support functions for implementation of application technologies.
- Participate in commissioning activities, installations, and customer start-ups to ensure successful deployment of solutions.
- Conduct techno-commercial feasibility studies and evaluate new application opportunities.
Team Development & Knowledge Sharing
- Develop, guide, and support Welding Specialists in achieving technical and business objectives.
- Enhance the technical sales capabilities of local sales teams through structured training programs, workshops, and practical demonstrations.
- Share best practices and application knowledge across teams to strengthen organizational capabilities.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor competitor activities, emerging technologies, market developments, and industry trends.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support business strategy and growth initiatives.

Required Key Skills (Functional / Technical
- )Strong understanding of metal joining, welding, cutting, and fabrication processes
- .In-depth knowledge of shielding gases and their industrial applications
- .Knowledge of welding power sources, torches, wire feeders, and associated equipment
- .Strong techno-commercial understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes
- .Knowledge of welding quality assurance, quality control, and inspection methodologies
- .Understanding of welding standards, codes, and procedures
- .Ability to organize and conduct practical demonstrations and customer trials
- .Strong customer relationship management skills
- .Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
- .Strong business acumen and technical sales capabilities
Qualifications & Experienc
- eBachelor’s Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline
- .Minimum 6 years of overall industrial experience
- .3–6 years of relevant experience in shielding gas applications, welding applications, fabrication, manufacturing, or production environments
- .Experience in industrial gas applications, technical sales support, customer trials, and commissioning activities will be an added advantage
