This role is best suited for someone with a strong curiosity to understand business operations and a passion for creating data pipelines and turning data into meaningful insights. You will act as a solution partner to stakeholders, translating business requirements into impactful analytics solutions using Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
A key focus of this role is continuous learning, both in understanding the business and adopting modern technologies such as AI-driven Business Intelligence, including conversational and agentic experiences within reports. The ideal candidate should have ability to create modular, robust and scalable data pipelines with an eye for intuitive, visually compelling dashboards, along with the ability to explore data, uncover insights, and communicate clear data stories. This is a hybrid role (manager’s discretion) within the Business Intelligence and Performance Management (BIPM) team.\n\nResponsibilities for BI Engineer:\nPartner with stakeholders to understand business operations, KPIs, and BI requirements.\nTranslate requirements into well-defined Jira epics, stories, and acceptance criteria.\nTranslate business logics and requested transformation into accurate and efficient Scripts (PySpark, SparkSQL, Power Query).\nBuild and optimize Fabric and Databricks Pipelines and Notebooks for performance and reliability.\nMonitor pipeline(s) for efficiency, cost effectiveness, stability and for continuous data flows.\nDesign and develop scalable pipelines and data models with Databricks (ADF, ADLS,\nDatabricks Notebooks) and Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Direct Lake, Dataflows).\nWork with IT Team and other concerned departments to fix any source level data issues including break in data flow/refresh.\nDevelop Power BI reports and dashboards with a focus on usability, performance, and visual storytelling.\nLeverage AI-driven BI capabilities (insights, conversational/agentic experiences) to enhance user interaction.\nPerform data analysis to uncover trends, insights, and actionable recommendations.\nEnsure data quality, consistency, governance, and security across all reporting solutions.\nWork closely with senior developers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.\nPresent insights and solutions to stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making.\nMaintain clear technical and functional documentation for all deliverables.\nContinuously learn and adopt new technologies in Fabric and AI to improve BI capabilities.\n\nRequirements:\nSolid experience with Databricks Notebooks (PySpark/SparkSQL) for data transformation and advanced analytics.\nExperience in creating data pipelines using ADF, ADLS, Databircks Notebooks and MS Fabric.\nStrong expertise with Notebook optimization (PySpark /SparkSQL).\nAdvanced expertise in Power BI (Desktop & Service), including DAX, Power Query, and semantic data modeling.\nStrong experience in building scalable, high-performance data models and optimizing report performance.\nHands-on experience with the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Warehouses, Deployment Pipeline).\nProficiency with version control tools like GitHub.\nSolid understanding of data architecture (ETL/ELT, medallion architecture, data pipelines).\nExperience in data analysis, with the ability to derive insights and present compelling data stories.\nStrong focus on data visualization, UX, and intuitive dashboard design.\nExperience implementing Row Level Security (RLS) and data governance practices.\nExposure to Paginated Reports and enterprise reporting standards.\nHands-on experience or strong interest in Agentic AI / AI-driven BI, including:\nConversational analytics and chatbot integrations\nAI-assisted insights within BI tools\nExperience integrating Power BI with external services/APIs for enhanced interactivity.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD practices and version control in BI development.\nExperience with Power Automate.\nDomain experience in Oil & Gas or similar data-intensive industries is a plus.\n\nQualifications and Attributes\nEngineering Degree or master’s degree in petroleum, Mechanical, Computer Science/ Analytics, or other quantitative fields.\nOperational experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Maintenance etc.\nSolid documentation and organization skills.\nExcellent organizational skills in order to manage multiple tasks.\nExcellent professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.\nMust be flexible and team-oriented.\nEthical, self-motivated individual with the ability to set and achieve goals.\nDemonstrates a workplace culture that is committed to the H&P Way\n- Actively C.A.R.E\n-Service Attitude\n-Innovative Spirit\n-Teamwork\n-Do the Right Thing
