Creative Assistant to Founder

Keep It Functional (Fun/ctional) is a design-forward creative Home Goods & Gifting brand founded by Nidhi Goenka, a Product Design graduate from Parsons, New York. The studio focuses on modern, ethical alternatives to everyday products that are playful, practical, and encourage self-expression. A key differentiator is the use of cork, a highly sustainable natural material harvested without cutting down trees. Fun/ctional collaborates with skilled craftspeople to produce well-designed, high-quality pieces that celebrate Make in India.

Role Description

We are looking for a hands-on designer who is creative, practical, detail-oriented, and comfortable wearing multiple hats. The person should be able to move between design, client coordination, vendor coordination, product development, print patterns, digital mockups, and material planning. This position offers close collaboration with the Founder, exposure to sustainable product design processes, and opportunities to contribute ideas to ongoing creative and operational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Production Design

• Create accurate print files for production.
• Prepare technical cut files for products, packaging, and custom orders.
• Support basic material calculation, sheet planning, and wastage optimization.
• Coordinate with local labor, vendors, printers, and material suppliers for day-to-day studio operations.

Product Development

• Assist in developing new product concepts for gifting, home, kids, lifestyle, and custom client projects.
• Create product mockups and visual references for internal review and client presentations.

Design Support Across the Business

• Support social media/product shoot references when needed.
• Support with order and delivery coordination across vendors, clients, and internal teams to ensure timely and smooth execution.
• Help organize design files, production files, references, and templates.
• Work closely with the founder on new ideas, experiments, and custom client requirements.

Required Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator.
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop & InDesign is preferred.
• Good understanding of measurements, layouts, scaling, and file accuracy.
• Ability to create print-ready files, patterns, graphics, and product visuals.
• Comfortable using or learning AI tools such as ChatGPT, Canva AI, or Gemini.
• Ability to think both creatively and practically.
• Detail-oriented and organized with files.
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving small business environment.

Preferred Background

• Degree/diploma in product design, furniture design, graphic design, accessory design, or related field.
• 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with print, packaging, gifting, lifestyle products, home products, stationery, or surface design will be a strong plus.

Salary

3-4 Lacs P.A.

10.30 am to 7.30 pm Mon-Sat
