SCOPE OF WORK (SOW)

Project Title: Windows Server 2022 Failover Cluster Domain Migration Support and Troubleshooting

Location: Remote Support

Support Hours: EST Time

Project Overview:

The client is migrating an existing Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Datacenter Failover Cluster from one Active Directory domain to another. During the migration process, the client is encountering an error while creating the Cluster Name Account (CNO) in Active Directory using the PowerShell command:

New-ClusterNameAccount -Name sdicluster01 -Domain sdirad.local

The engineer will provide remote troubleshooting, assessment, and migration support to identify the root cause of the error and assist with the successful migration of the cluster to the target domain.

Environment:

• Microsoft Windows Server 2022 Datacenter
• Two-node Failover Cluster
• SAS-attached shared storage
• Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV)
• Shared quorum disk
• Active Directory integrated environment

Scope of Services:

• Environment Assessment

• Review existing cluster configuration and health status.
• Review Active Directory environment and domain structure.
• Verify cluster node configuration and connectivity.
• Review storage, quorum, and Cluster Shared Volume configuration.
• Validate DNS and network communication requirements.

• Troubleshooting

• Investigate failure of Cluster Name Account creation.
• Review PowerShell execution results and error messages.
• Verify Active Directory permissions and delegation requirements.
• Check for existing Cluster Name Objects or naming conflicts.
• Review cluster logs, event logs, and failover cluster validation reports.
• Identify any Microsoft Failover Cluster configuration issues affecting migration.

• Domain Migration Support

• Review migration prerequisites based on Microsoft best practices.
• Validate readiness of cluster nodes for domain migration.
• Assist with creation and validation of Cluster Name Object (CNO).
• Support migration of cluster nodes to the target Active Directory domain.
• Verify cluster service functionality after domain migration.
• Validate cluster communication and authentication.

• Validation and Testing

• Validate cluster availability and operational status.
• Verify Cluster Shared Volume accessibility.
• Verify quorum functionality.
• Perform failover testing between cluster nodes.
• Confirm cluster resources operate correctly following migration.

• Documentation and Findings

• Provide summary of findings and root cause.
• Document corrective actions performed.
• Identify any remaining risks or recommendations.
• Provide post-migration validation results.

Deliverables:

• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Resolution of Cluster Name Account creation issue (if within scope and environment permissions allow).
• Support for Active Directory domain migration of the failover cluster.
• Validation of cluster functionality after migration.
• Summary report of work completed.
