About The Job:

• client is seeking an experienced Business Process Internal Audit Contractor to support the execution of its Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program.
• This role is focused on testing the operating effectiveness of business process controls across key cycles including Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Human Resources, Commissions, and Financial Reporting, among others.
• The ideal candidate brings a structured, audit-first mindset from a Big 4, major consulting, or in-house internal audit background, along with the agility to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
• By the time this contractor joins, the walkthrough phase of the SOX cycle will be substantially complete; the role will focus on operating effectiveness testing through year-end.
• This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders, process owners, and external auditors to validate controls, document evidence, and support timely remediation of identified issues.

Essential Job Functions:

• Execute Test of Operating Effectiveness (TOE) procedures across business process controls in cycles including Procure-to-Pay (PTP), Human Resources, Commissions, Financial Reporting, Equity, Revenue, and other in-scope processes including sample selection, evidence collection, exception identification, and work paper documentation.
• Evaluate the operating effectiveness of manual and management review controls, ensuring audit-ready work papers for each control tested.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain high-quality audit work papers in AuditBoard, ensuring documentation meets internal and external audit standards.
• Have and apply working knowledge of key reports and automated controls to the extent they support or interface with business process controls being tested (note: dedicated key report and ITAC testing is performed by other team members).
• Communicate test exceptions and potential control deficiencies to Internal Audit team members in a clear and timely manner.
• Respond to external auditor requests as needed by the Internal Audit team.
• Flexibly support additional internal audit projects as directed by the Internal Audit leadership team.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in internal audit or public accounting, with a strong foundation in SOX business process controls testing.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience testing controls across multiple business cycles (e.g., PTP, HR, Commissions, Financial Reporting, Revenue).
• Strong knowledge of US SOX requirements, US GAAP, and internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO).
• Prior experience serving US-headquartered companies in a SOX capacity. Candidates whose recent experience is limited to India-domiciled, non-US-reporting companies will not be considered.
• Hands-on working experience with AuditBoard for work paper documentation, issue tracking, and SOX program management.
• Fluent professional English, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate issues, risks, and recommendations clearly and concisely. Candidates will be evaluated on writing samples and live discussion during the interview process.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, concise, and well-organized audit work papers that meet US SOX documentation standards and withstand review by US-based stakeholders and external auditors with minimal rework.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with proven ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams and meet firm deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate daily overlap with morning US Pacific Time (typically requiring evening / night hours in India).
• Unwavering integrity and the ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of professional discretion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Big 4 public accounting background preferred.
• Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, CIA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
• Prior exposure to high-growth SaaS or technology companies; ability to navigate evolving control environments with limited supervision.
• Experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and equity / stock-based compensation controls.
• Experience with data flow diagrams using Lucidchart or equivalent tools.
• Familiarity with NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, Salesforce, or similar enterprise financial and HR systems.
