Stem Cell Processing

ALIV - Regenerative Wellness
Pune, MH, IN Full Time
Reference: 1846181e7f8cc8cf

Job Description

ALIV Regenerative Wellness | Pune (primary lab)

About the role

Every autologous regenerative therapy ALIV delivers — PRP, bone marrow concentrate, adipose-derived preparations — lives or dies in the lab. The physician aspirates the tissue. The specialist turns it into a safe, viable, correctly-concentrated preparation ready for reinjection. Get the protocol right and the therapy has a chance. Get the sterility, the spin, or the viability wrong and nothing downstream matters.

We're hiring a Cell Processing Specialist to own that bench. You'll process bone marrow aspirate, blood for PRP, and adipose tissue to clinical standards, maintain absolute aseptic discipline, run quality control on every preparation, and keep the documentation chain that lets us stand behind what we deliver.

This is a hands-on, high-responsibility technical role for someone who has worked with human-derived biological material before and treats sterility and viability as non-negotiable.

Core responsibilities

1. PRP processing

  • Process whole blood into platelet-rich plasma to protocol — single and double-spin methods
  • Produce leukocyte-rich or leukocyte-poor PRP as the clinical indication requires
  • Verify platelet yield and concentration factor against target; document per preparation
  • Maintain consistency across operators and sessions

2. Bone marrow processing (BMAC)

  • Process bone marrow aspirate into bone marrow aspirate concentrate via density-gradient centrifugation or validated concentration systems
  • Isolate the mononuclear cell fraction; assess nucleated cell count and viability
  • Manage anticoagulation, washing, and concentration steps to protocol
  • Time-critical handling between aspiration and reinjection — coordinate tightly with the procedure room

3. Adipose tissue processing

  • Process lipoaspirate into the required preparation — stromal vascular fraction (SVF), microfat, or nanofat depending on indication and ALIV's validated method
  • Apply enzymatic or mechanical (non-enzymatic) isolation per the clinic's protocol and regulatory posture
  • Wash, filter, and concentrate to clinical standard
  • Assess yield and viability of the final preparation

4. Cell characterisation & quality control

  • Cell counting and viability assessment (haemocytometer, automated counters, trypan blue exclusion)
  • Where applicable, surface-marker characterisation via flow cytometry (e.g. MSC panel — CD73/CD90/CD105 positive, CD34/CD45 negative)
  • Sterility checks and contamination monitoring on preparations and environment
  • Reject and document any preparation that fails QC — no exceptions, no pressure to pass borderline product

5. Aseptic technique & lab operations

  • Operate biosafety cabinets / laminar flow hoods to strict aseptic standard
  • Maintain, calibrate, and log centrifuges, incubators, counters, and storage equipment
  • Manage reagents, consumables, and cold-chain inventory
  • Environmental monitoring and cleanroom discipline appropriate to the lab's classification

6. Cryopreservation & storage (if applicable)

  • Cryopreserve and bank cells/preparations to protocol where the clinic offers storage
  • Maintain LN2 / freezer logs, sample tracking, and chain-of-custody integrity
  • Controlled-rate freezing and thawing per validated SOPs

7. Documentation, consent chain & compliance

  • Maintain complete batch records, processing logs, and chain-of-custody for every sample
  • Ensure tissue handling aligns with informed consent and patient identity verification at every step
  • Biomedical waste segregation and disposal per regulation
  • Contribute to and maintain processing SOPs and QC reference documents
Required qualifications
  • BSc / MSc in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, or equivalent (DMLT / BMLT acceptable with strong relevant experience)
  • Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience processing human-derived biological material in a regenerative medicine lab, cell therapy unit, blood bank, tissue bank, or IVF/embryology lab
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with human stem cells / cell-based preparations — this is a hard requirement, not a preference
  • Direct experience with at least two of: PRP, BMAC/bone marrow processing, adipose/SVF processing — ideally all three
  • Mastery of aseptic technique , biosafety cabinet operation, and centrifugation protocols
  • Cell counting and viability assessment proficiency
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience across all three processing types (PRP, bone marrow, adipose)
  • Flow cytometry experience for cell characterisation
  • Cell culture / expansion experience (relevant only if ALIV operates a culture pathway — see open items)
  • Cryopreservation and cell banking experience
  • Familiarity with GMP / GLP environments and cleanroom classification
  • Working knowledge of ICMR-DBT National Guidelines for Stem Cell Research and the CDSCO / NDCT Rules 2019 framework for cell-based products
Who this role is for

Mindset more than CV. This matters more than the resume:

  • You treat sterility as sacred. Aseptic discipline isn't a rule you follow when watched — it's how you work when no one is
  • You'd rather reject a borderline preparation and redraw than deliver product you're not sure of. You're immune to "it's probably fine"
  • You're meticulous on documentation because you understand the chain of custody is the patient's safety, not paperwork
  • You're calm and precise under time pressure — bone marrow and adipose processing are time-critical, and the procedure room is waiting
  • You understand viability and concentration are the whole game, and you can tell a good preparation from a marginal one
  • You respect the regulatory line between what's permissible and what isn't, and you flag it rather than work around it
  • You're a steady teammate to the physicians and nurses — precise handoffs, clear communication, no ego at the bench
