Job Description for Sr. Fluids and Cementing Engineer

For efficient planning and Execution of AWEL’s upcoming D & C campaign, Sr. Fluids and Cementing Engineer, shall be required with the following requirements.

The expertise shall center around safe and efficient drilling and completion planning and operations, maintaining well integrity, and optimizing reservoir productivity used in various stages of well construction.

Expectations:

  1. Lead the Contracting & procurement of the Drilling and Completion fluid / Cementing services for AWEL’s upcoming campaign: Prepare and Review various C & P documents for Drilling and Completion Fluids / Cementing contracts (e.g. preparation of EoI, PQC/PQM, SoW, BEC and TEC and technical evaluation of technical bids etc.)
  2. Provide expert advice on the development and selection of drilling and completion fluids / cement design tailored to specific well conditions, reservoir properties, and drilling & completions objectives. This is to include water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based mud systems, as well as completion fluids for cementing, stimulation, and well cleanouts.
  3. Developing & reviewing drilling and completion fluid programs for various types of drilling and completion operations. This will include selecting the appropriate fluid type, designing the formulation, and specifying the operating parameters to ensure optimal performance.
  4. Responsible for developing & reviewing cementing programs for individual wells or entire drilling and completion programs. This would involve working with drilling and completion engineers and geologists to design cementing programs that meet the specific requirements of each well, especially for open or cased hole gravel pack.
  5. Ensure that all associated planning and operations comply with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements to maintain high-quality wellbore integrity and cement sheath integrity.
  6. Ensure that fluid and cementing compositions and properties meet health, safety, and environmental requirements, industry standards and are compatible with wellbore materials.
  7. Oversee fluid and cement testing programs to assess rheological properties, stability, filtration control, and other critical characteristics. Interpret test results to optimize formulations.
  8. Responsible for planning and evaluating cementing jobs to ensure that they meet the required standards and well is ready for effective sand management techniques. This would involve analyzing cementing operational data, conducting visual inspections, and evaluating logs to determine the quality of the cement bond.
  9. Offer advice and technical support to AWEL or service partners on various fluids and cementing aspects, including designing programs, job planning, and optimization.
  10. Analyze complex drilling and completion fluid and cementing-related issues, such as lost circulation, cementing parameters, wellbore stability, differential sticking, and recommend corrective actions.
  11. Stay updated with the latest advancements in technologies and practices and contribute to the development of new and innovative solutions to improve planning with operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  12. Conduct training sessions and workshops for personnel, both for new employees and as part of continuous improvement efforts.
  13. Participate in risk assessments related to fluid and cementing design and operations and assist in identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

  1. Design and operational experience of drilling / completion fluids and cementing operations.
  2. Experience with running open hole and cased hole sand control jobs with respect to fluid systems.
  3. Experience with operating SOBM and WBM systems for drilling and in RDF.
  4. Experience with managing and planning volumes for mud plant at the shore base.
  5. Experience with managing chloride and bromide-based brines for completions.
  6. Understanding fluid and cement chemistry for controlling parameters.
  7. Acquainted with sand control / well stimulation techniques and equipment.
  8. Experience in resolving performance issues with service providers and suppliers.
