AI Backend Engineer – LLM & Workflow Orchestration (Python)
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Backend Engineer to architect and build next-generation AI-powered backend systems and workflow orchestration layers within our AI Prototyping Lab.
This role is focused on developing scalable, reusable, and enterprise-grade AI workflows by integrating LLMs, business logic, and complex system APIs (including SAP) to deliver realistic, production-relevant prototype experiences .
You will play a critical role in bridging backend engineering, AI capabilities, and enterprise integrations , enabling rapid experimentation and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
Design and build robust Python-based backend services and APIs for AI-driven applications and guided user flows
Architect and implement workflow orchestration layers , including:
Business logic
Structured outputs
Tool orchestration and execution pipelines
Integrate LLMs, AI services, and enterprise data sources with backend systems
Develop reusable backend components and frameworks for:
Conversational workflows (chat-based systems)
Tool calling and agent workflows
Evaluation hooks and response validation
Data grounding and contextual enrichment
Enable end-to-end AI-driven scenarios by integrating:
SAP systems (OData/APIs)
External enterprise platforms and services
Drive observability, debuggability, and resilience across AI workflows and backend services
Collaborate closely with frontend, platform, and AI/ML teams to ensure:
Usability
Security
Scalability
Reusability of AI workflows

Core Skills & Experience
Strong expertise in Python backend development for APIs and workflow systems
Hands-on experience with frameworks such as FastAPI (or equivalent)
Proven experience building orchestration logic / workflow engines / AI-enabled backend flows
Practical exposure to:
LLM integrations
Prompt-based workflows
Structured output handling
AI application design patterns
Experience integrating enterprise systems (SAP & non-SAP) using:
REST APIs
OData services
Event-driven architectures
Solid understanding of cloud-native backend architecture , scalability, and security fundamentals
Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and Agile delivery models

Nice to Have
Experience building LLM-powered applications or Generative AI systems in production/prototyping environments
Familiarity with agent frameworks, tool execution patterns, or multi-step AI workflows
Exposure to TypeScript / Node.js ecosystems (secondary to Python)
Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and microservices architecture
