Senior Structural Designer
Job Description
Sr. Structural Engineer is responsible for leading the structural design and coordination of residential and mixed-use developments, including high-rise and medium-rise buildings. The role requires strong technical expertise in structural analysis, modelling, and detailing, along with team supervision and compliance with authority and international design standards.
The position operates under the supervision and guidance of the Manager – Structures and plays a key role in ensuring alignment and coordination with Dubai Structural teams, maintaining consistency in design approach, standards, and delivery expectations.
The focus is on end-to-end internal project delivery within the system, ensuring efficient, coordinated, and technically robust structural solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Interpret architectural requirements and deliver efficient and practical structural design solutions.
• Perform structural analysis and design for gravity and lateral systems using appropriate software tools.
• Ensure alignment with DXB Structural team standards and technical expectations.
• Liaise with DXB for submissions & approvals.
• Prepare design sketches, inputs, and technical data for CAD/BIM teams.
• Develop design reports and structural calculations.
• Coordinate with Architecture, MEP, landscape, construction, and PNCA DXB teams for integrated delivery.
• Review and validate drawings at all stages.
• Supervise, mentor, and guide junior engineers and CAD/BIM technicians.
SKILLS
• Strong analytical skills with sound understanding of structural behaviour and design
• Advanced proficiency in ETABS and SAFE; familiarity with STAAD.Pro is an advantage
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for engineering calculations
• Good understanding of international design codes (BS, ACI, Eurocode, etc.)
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet project timelines
• Strong coordination skills across disciplines
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and quality
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree in Structural Engineering
• 8 to 12 years of quality design experience, with at least 5 years in a senior role.
• Knowledge of local authority submission and approval workflows.
• Experience in high-rise and mixed-use residential projects. Experience with international consultants is a plus.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices and processes.
• Preferred: Expertise in advanced structural design techniques and materials.
