Total Experience- 10–12 years in Microsoft Business Applications / ERP consulting ( 8+ years in D365 Business Central / Dynamics NAV implementations)

Role Overview

The Principal Consultant – D365 Business Central is a senior delivery and client-facing leadership role responsible for end-to-end ERP implementations , solution design, pre-sales, and team mentoring. Operating at a Principal / Manager level , this individual will serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) on BC engagements — bridging business requirements with scalable ERP solutions across Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Service Management modules.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Implementation & Solution Design

• Lead full lifecycle D365 Business Central implementations — from discovery, requirement analysis, and solution design through configuration, testing, data migration, go-live, and hypercare.
• Lead fit-gap analysis workshops, mapping client business processes to BC OOB capabilities, recommending best-practice configurations, and minimizing unnecessary customizations.
• Design and oversee NAV-to-BC and legacy ERP-to-BC migration strategies including data mapping, cleansing, validation, and cutover planning.
• Architect multi-company, multi-currency, and multi-location configurations for complex organizational structures.
• Deliver comprehensive documentation: BRD, FRD, Solution Design Documents, Configuration Workbooks, and Go-Live checklists.

AI, Copilot & Modern Platform

• Leverage and configure Copilot in Business Central features including AI-assisted financial reporting, inventory forecasting, late payment prediction, and marketing text suggestions.
• Design and implement Copilot Studio agents and Power Automate-based automation workflows embedded within BC business processes.
• Guide clients on AI readiness assessments and adoption of intelligent workflows within BC.

Integration & Technical Collaboration

• Define and oversee integration architecture connecting BC with Dynamics 365 CRM (Sales/Field Service), Power BI, Power Platform, Azure, and third-party systems (payroll, e-commerce, logistics).
• Collaborate with technical developers on AL extensions, APIs, and custom integrations — understanding AL language concepts is a strong advantage.
• Support Power BI reporting setup for operational dashboards and financial analytics embedded within BC.

Testing, Training & Go-Live

• Plan and lead SIT, UAT, and regression testing cycles; manage issue tracking and resolution.
• Design and deliver role-based end-user training for Finance, Operations, Warehouse, and Management users.
• Manage production cutover activities , go-live readiness reviews, and post-go-live hypercare support.

Pre-Sales & Business Development

• Act as the BC domain SME in pre-sales engagements : solution demonstrations, discovery workshops, RFP/RFI responses, effort estimation, and SoW preparation.
• Develop industry-specific solution demos and reusable implementation accelerators for Manufacturing, Distribution, and Professional Services verticals.
• Build and nurture senior-level client relationships , positioning BDO India as the preferred Microsoft BC partner for SMB and mid-market clients.
• Identify upsell and expansion opportunities within existing accounts (e.g., Power Platform, AI Agents, Copilot Studio add-ons).

Team Leadership & Practice Development

• Mentor and guide Senior Consultants and Junior Consultants on BC best practices, delivery standards, and client engagement skills.
• Drive creation of reusable delivery frameworks, configuration templates , and internal BC knowledge assets.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding , and performance development of the BC practice team.
• Stay current with the D365 BC product roadmap, release wave updates , and emerging AI capabilities.

• Deep expertise in D365 BC Core Modules : Finance (GL, AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Budgets), Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Warehouse Management
• Deep expertise in D365 BC Advanced Modules : Manufacturing (Standard/Premium), Project Management, Service Management, Assembly Management
• Power Platform : Power BI, Power Automate (workflow automation in BC), Power Apps (companion apps)
• Integration frameworks : BC REST APIs, OData, Power Automate connectors, Azure Logic Apps, third-party ERP/CRM integration
• Development Awareness : AL language (read/review), VS Code, Extension development concepts
• ALM & DevOps : Azure DevOps, BC environment management, solution lifecycle
