Job Summary
The Local IT Administrator is responsible for maintaining and supporting all IT systems, infrastructure, and user devices within the organization. This role includes managing IT procurement, ensuring network stability, supporting users with technical issues, maintaining data security and software compliance, and delivering technical support across office and production environments.
In a design and manufacturing setup, this position is critical for ensuring the smooth functioning of design workstations, production systems, and communication tools.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. IT Asset & Procurement Management
- Procure and deploy laptops, desktops, workstations, and peripherals (monitors, printers, plotters, etc.).
- Maintain accurate inventory of all IT assets (hardware and software).
- Track warranties, AMCs, and renewal schedules.
- Coordinate with vendors for quotations, procurement, repairs, and support contracts.
- Evaluate IT requirements and plan upgrades accordingly.
2. Software Installation & Compliance
- Install, configure, and update operating systems and applications.
- Manage software licensing and ensure compliance with agreements.
- Maintain antivirus and endpoint protection systems.
- Monitor and apply software updates, patches, and security policies.
- Support installation and maintenance of specialized tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Revit, ERP systems).
3. Network & Server Administration
- Maintain LAN/Wi-Fi networks, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network issues.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and shared drives.
- Ensure connectivity between office and production systems.
- Support VPN and remote access.
- Assist with data backup, file sharing, and recovery.
4. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide day-to-day IT support for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Log, track, and resolve support requests efficiently.
- Set up new user systems, accounts, and email configurations.
- Perform routine system and device health checks.
- Support high-performance workstations used by design teams.
5. Printer, Plotter & Peripheral Management
- Install and configure printers, scanners, and plotters.
- Maintain network connectivity and update drivers.
- Manage printer queues, consumables, and maintenance schedules.
6. IT Security & Data Protection
- Enforce IT security policies (access control, passwords, encryption).
- Monitor for threats such as malware and unauthorized access.
- Ensure regular backups and test recovery procedures.
- Maintain endpoint security tools and conduct audits.
- Support compliance with data security standards.
7. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain records of IT assets, configurations, and network diagrams.
- Document issue resolutions, SOPs, and user guides.
- Generate monthly reports on IT performance and inventory.
- Track and document changes to systems and software.
8. Coordination & Continuous Improvement
- Work with external IT vendors and service providers.
- Train users on IT best practices.
- Recommend and implement system improvements.
- Support rollout of new technologies and upgrades.
- Participate in IT audits and infrastructure reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in IT administration or system support.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with networking (LAN, WAN, routers, switches, firewalls).
- Familiarity with Active Directory and user access management.
- Experience with printers, scanners, and plotters.
- Knowledge of IT asset tracking and license management.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with design and project software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Revit, ERP systems).
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as Oracle NetSuite.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
- Basic knowledge of backup and storage systems.
Work Environment
- On-site role supporting office and production teams.
- May require occasional travel to vendor or company locations.
- Flexibility to handle after-hours or urgent IT issues when needed.
