DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior HCI Compute Engineer (L3) to provide advanced technical support and engineering services for Compute and Virtualization platforms within a 24x7 managed services environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on expertise across VMware vSphere/ESXi, Nutanix AHV, and Microsoft Hyper-V environments and will serve as the highest level of technical escalation for complex incidents, problems, and infrastructure initiatives.
The Senior HCI Compute Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, troubleshooting, and enhancing enterprise compute platforms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, security, and operational excellence.
Job Responsibilities (Technical and Operational Responsibilities)
Provide Level 3 support and technical escalation for VMware vSphere/ESXi, Nutanix AHV, and Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to virtualization platforms, compute infrastructure, storage integration, and virtual networking.
Perform advanced administration of VMware vCenter, ESXi hosts, vSAN, Nutanix Prism, AHV, and Hyper-V clusters.
Design, implement, and optimize compute and virtualization solutions across VMware, Nutanix, and Hyper-V platforms.
Execute lifecycle management activities, including upgrades, patching, firmware updates, migrations, and hardware refreshes.
Ensure platform availability and resilience through technologies such as VMware HA/DRS, Nutanix Acropolis/Leap, and Hyper-V Failover Clustering.
Conduct capacity planning, performance analysis, and resource optimization across compute environments.
Implement and maintain security hardening standards and best practices for virtualization platforms.
Support vulnerability remediation activities and ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows using PowerShell, PowerCLI, Nutanix APIs, or similar technologies.
Integrate and maintain monitoring solutions such as VMware Aria Operations (vROps), Nutanix Prism Central, Microsoft SCOM, and other enterprise monitoring platforms.
Support disaster recovery testing, business continuity planning, and recovery procedures.
Collaborate with network, storage, backup, security, server, and application teams to support business requirements.
Participate in major incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and implementation of preventive measures.
Review technical designs, configurations, and operational documentation to ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and architecture diagrams.
Support hybrid cloud initiatives, including VMware Cloud, Nutanix NC2, Azure-based integrations, and related technologies.
Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support when required.
Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and continuous service improvement.
Qualification Requirements
Minimum 6+ years of experience supporting enterprise virtualization and compute infrastructure.
Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and vSAN administration.
Solid experience managing Nutanix AHV environments using Prism Central and Prism Element.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V, Failover Clustering, and virtual machine lifecycle management.
Advanced troubleshooting skills across compute, virtualization, storage, networking, and operating system layers.
Experience performing infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and platform lifecycle management activities.
Knowledge of automation and scripting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, REST APIs, or similar tools.
Experience with monitoring and performance management tools.
Strong understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity concepts.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced enterprise support environment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor"s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
English business fluent.

VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
VMware Advanced Professional (VCAP) - preferred
Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Infrastructure
ITIL v4 Foundation
Additional Preferred Experience
Exposure to VMware Cloud on AWS, Azure VMware Solution (AVS), Nutanix NC2, and hybrid cloud platforms.
Experience with automation frameworks and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery technologies.
