What You'll Do
Lead SEO/AEO performance tracking and analysis
- Build and maintain the measurement framework for SEO and AEO performance - organic search visibility, AI engine mention rates, keyword rankings, content gap analysis, and attribution to pipeline.
- Translate performance data into clear priorities and recommendations, identifying where Smartsheet is winning, where we're losing ground, and where the highest-value opportunities exist - and partnering with content and strategy teams to act on them.
- Track and analyze Smartsheet's visibility across AI engine experiences (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode/Overview) and bring insights that inform our AEO content and optimization approach.
- Stay close to algorithm changes, AI search trends, and competitive dynamics, and bring a current, informed perspective to the team's planning conversations.
Support and strengthen paid media performance
- Conduct account audits across paid search and paid social channels - identifying structural inefficiencies, performance gaps, and opportunities to improve return on investment.
- Develop and execute testing strategies across ad copy, audiences, bidding approaches, and landing pages - with clear hypotheses, clean measurement, and results that feed into channel decisions.
- Partner with paid media leads as an analytical resource on complex performance questions, budget scenarios, and channel mix assessments.
- Manage the finance relationship across paid channels - including budget tracking, vendor invoice management, reconciliation, and reporting - ensuring accuracy and alignment with financial operations.
Inform decisions through clear communication
- Synthesize channel performance into concise narratives for senior audiences - turning data into something stakeholders can act on.
- Partner with marketing operations, analytics, and finance to ensure data infrastructure supports reliable, actionable measurement.
- Surface emerging opportunities and gaps proactively - and come with recommendations, not just observations.
Drive innovation through AI usage
- Actively integrate AI tools into day-to-day workflows across paid and organic channels - from creative testing and keyword research to reporting automation and content gap analysis - with a bias toward speed and signal over manual process.
- Identify and pilot emerging AI-powered platforms and capabilities that can meaningfully improve channel performance or team efficiency, and bring a clear-eyed view of what's worth adopting versus what's noise.
- Partner with the broader digital team to share what's working, document what you're learning, and help raise the floor on how the team uses AI - not just in your own lane, but across paid and organic.
- Stay current on how AI is reshaping search behavior, platform algorithms, and buyer journeys - and translate that into practical implications for how we plan, optimize, and measure.
What You Bring
- 8-10 years of experience in demand generation, performance marketing, or digital marketing - with meaningful hands-on experience across both paid media and SEO.
- Deep working knowledge of paid search and paid social platforms (Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Microsoft Ads) at a performance level.
- Strong SEO expertise - keyword research, competitive analysis, on-page optimization, content gap analysis, rank tracking - and a genuine understanding of how AEO and AI search are reshaping organic visibility.
- Proven ability to build performance frameworks and dashboards that connect channel activity to business outcomes, ideally including pipeline contribution.
- Experience managing financial processes across paid channels - budget tracking, reconciliation, vendor billing - and working directly with finance or operations partners.
- Strong analytical skills: comfortable working across large datasets, identifying what matters, and communicating it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English, including experience presenting findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable operating independently in a global, cross-functional environment - good at navigating ambiguity and moving work forward without a lot of hand-holding.
You'll Stand Out If You Have
- Experience with AEO-specific tools or AI engine visibility tracking (e.g., AirOps, Profound, or similar).
- Familiarity with B2B SaaS demand generation and MQL/pipeline attribution models.
- Working knowledge of SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar platforms at a practitioner level.
- Experience working across paid and organic search in an integrated way.
