Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration

• Manage, install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
• Ensure database availability, performance, and reliability.

Installation & Upgrades

• Perform PostgreSQL installation, and version upgrades (e.g., 12→14/16/17).
• Handle upgrades with minimal downtime.

Backup & Recovery

• Implement backup strategies using pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pgBackRest.
• Perform database restore .

Performance Tuning

• Analyze slow queries .
• Create indexes and optimize queries for better performance.
• Monitor CPU, memory, disk utilization, load average.

Replication & High Availability

• Configure streaming replication (primary-standby setup).
• Manage HA tools like Patroni, etcd, HAProxy, PGBackRest.
• Handle replication lag and failover scenarios.

Monitoring & Alerts

• Troubleshoot alerts related to WAL, disk space, replication lag, load average , memory usage , slow queries .

WAL Management

• Monitor and manage WAL files to avoid disk full issues.
• Configure archiving and retention policies.

Security & Access Control

• Manage user roles, permissions, and authentication.

Database Migration

• Perform database migrations from one server to another.
• Handle data transfer using SCP or dump/restore

Preferred Qualifications:

%CF; Microsoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator or Azure Database Administrator Associate.

%CF; Experience with large-scale migrations (cross-version, cross-platform).

%CF; Familiarity with SQL Server SSIS/SSRS/SSAS for infra support.

%CF; Exposure to cloud-hosted hybrid SQL setups (Azure/AWS/VMware).Soft Skills

%CF; Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.

%CF; Ability to work under pressure and resolve critical issues swiftly.

%CF; Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

%CF; Flexible to work in planned maintenance windows (after-hours/weekends).Work Environment
