The role is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting highperformance, secure, and resilient microservices that power Westpac's core payment processing platforms. This position requires deep technical expertise, strong engineering discipline, and experience working in regulated financial environments. Technical (Mandatory) 6–12+ years of handson Java backend development. Strong proficiency in Java 21, Spring Boot 3.x, microservices, and distributed systems. Experience with Kafka, MQ listeners, message processing patterns, and DLQ handling. Proficiency with OpenAPI/Swagger for API documentation and contract-first development. Experience with Grafana/Prometheus for metrics, dashboards, and alerting. Experience with Splunk or ELK for logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Hands-on deployment experience with Kubernetes. CI/CD experience with Bamboo; code management with Bitbucket. Solid understanding of concurrency, performance tuning, and faulttolerant design. Strong experience writing automated tests across multiple layers. Prior experience in payments or financial services (mandatory for this role)." | |||
