Job Description

  • Purpose of the Role

The Senior Assistant Audit works within the extended team model and supports audit engagements of Forvis Mazars Netherlands from the Delivery Platform India. The role focuses on performing audit procedures, preparing high-quality audit documentation, resolving review points, and supporting junior team members, in close collaboration with the Dutch engagement team and under the guidance of senior team members.

Works with: Dutch Audit Engagement Teams, Delivery Platform Audit Team Leads, and cross-functional colleagues

  • Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (B.Com / BBA / BMS).
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or professional qualifications such as CA Inter, ACCA, or equivalent.

Professional Development

  • Actively pursuing or willing to pursue CA, ACCA, or similar certifications.

Experience

  • 2–3 years of relevant external audit experience, preferably in a Big 4 or international audit environment.
  • Experience with international clients or shared service/offshore delivery models is an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of audit methodology, IFRS, Dutch GAAP, and financial reporting concepts.
  • Proficiency in audit tools and working with Excel; experience with data analytics tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate across time zones.
  • Experience of using audit software and Microsoft Office package
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.


  • Key Performance Areas & Responsibilities

A. Project Execution

  • Perform audit procedures in line with Dutch audit programs and team instructions, including testing in areas such as receivables, payables, inventory, payroll, fixed assets, cash, and journal entries.
  • Conduct analytical procedures and variance analysis.
  • Support the preparation and update of audit documentation and working paper templates as instructed by the engagement team.
  • Prepare complete, accurate, and well-structured audit documentation and working papers for review.
  • Support walkthroughs, process understanding, and documentation of internal controls and administrative processes where applicable.
  • Guide and support junior team members through on-the-job coaching and review of work where assigned.
  • Support the engagement manager, based in the NL, by overseeing and providing on-the-job coaching to other members of the offshore team
  • Managing and controlling audit assignments assigned in timely manner.
  • Managing time spent to complete audit tasks and procedures in line with agreed timescales and providing regular status updates on progress.
  • Ensure audit standards and review protocols are maintained during an engagement, which includes timely clearance of review notes.
  • Draft relevant audit completion documents such as the audit opinion or letter of representation for the engagement manager and responsible individual (‘RI’), and support with the drafting of other reporting documents, including group reporting and audit committee papers.
  • Build strong working relationships with the extended audit team, ensuring any problems or requests are dealt with promptly.
  • Experience in leading external audits from planning through to completion.

    C. Development

    • Enhance technical audit skills and knowledge of Dutch GAAP, IFRS, and Mazars audit methodology.
    • Build understanding of Dutch client industries and business environments.
    • Strengthen collaboration with Dutch audit teams and continuously develop the knowledge and skills needed to support a broader scope of work over time.
    • Self-driven, takes ownership of the work, effectively delegates to juniors within the team and takes responsibility for quality control
