Job Summary:
The company is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in 2D drafting, 3D modeling, fabrication design, and 3D printing. The role involves designing mechanical products, machine parts, enclosures, sheet metal components, and prototypes while coordinating with manufacturing and fabrication teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Design for fabrication, machining, CNC, laser cutting, and sheet metal manufacturing.
- Develop 3D-printable models for FDM/SLA printing.
- Prepare manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
- Design jigs, fixtures, brackets, enclosures, and custom mechanical systems.
- Improve designs based on testing and production feedback.
- Ensure compliance with GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing standards.
- Coordinate with fabrication and production teams.
- Perform design validation and resolve engineering issues.
- Maintain design documentation and revision control
Required Skills:
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
- Expertise in 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
- Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Creo, CATIA, or Fusion 360.
- Knowledge of sheet metal design, weldments, machine design, assembly design, fabrication drawings, and GD&T.
- Experience with 3D printing (FDM/SLA), STL generation, print optimization, and material selection.
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and BOMs.
Preferred Skills:
- CNC machining, laser cutting, bending operations.
- Prototype development and product design.
- Basic FEA knowledge.
- Independent problem-solving ability.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
