Position Title - PRT English\nFunction/Wing - Academics Primary Wing\nPosition Responsibilities:\nCurriculum Planning and Delivery:\nDesigning and delivering inquiry-based, transdisciplinary lessons modeling the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework and subject-specific learning objectives.\nIntegrating key concepts, transdisciplinary themes, and global contexts into subject-specific units of inquiry to foster interdisciplinary connections, critical thinking, and authentic learning experiences.\nAssessment and Feedback:\nDeveloping and implementing formative and summative assessments to evaluate students' understanding, progress, and achievement in the subject area, using a variety of assessment tools and methods.\nProviding timely, constructive feedback to students on their academic performance, growth areas, and areas for improvement, and involving students in self-assessment and reflection on their learning journey.\nDifferentiated Instruction:\nTailoring instruction and learning activities to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of individual students, including English language learners, gifted learners, and students with learning differences or special needs.\nModifying curriculum materials, assignments, and assessments to accommodate students' learning styles, preferences, and developmental levels.\nSubject Area Leadership and Collaboration:\nCollaborating with colleagues, grade-level teams, and interdisciplinary groups to align curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment practices across subject areas and promote coherence and continuity in the IB PYP curriculum.\nParticipating in subject-specific professional learning communities (PLCs), curriculum review meetings, and collaborative planning sessions to share best practices, resources, and strategies for subject area instruction.\nMiscellaneous Tasks:\nExtracurricular Involvement:\nParticipating in extracurricular activities, clubs, or enrichment programs related to the subject area, such as academic competitions, clubs, or service learning projects, to enhance students' engagement and interest in the subject.\nProfessional Development:\nEngaging in ongoing professional development activities, such as workshops, seminars, conferences, and subject-specific training sessions, to enhance subject knowledge, pedagogical skills, and curriculum expertise.\nStudent Support and Guidance:\nProviding academic, social, and emotional support to students in the subject area through individualized instruction, tutoring, mentoring, and guidance on study skills, time management, and problem-solving strategies.\n\nProfile\nQualifications and Experience\nBachelor’s degree in education or related field: A bachelor's degree in education, subject-specific area, or a relevant field is typically required for subject teacher positions in primary education.\nTeaching Certification or License: A valid teaching certification or license issued by the relevant education authorities or credentialing bodies is necessary to work as a subject teacher in a primary school.\nSubject Area Expertise: Specialized knowledge and expertise in English, supported by relevant academic qualifications, coursework, and teaching experience in the subject.\nCompetencies Required\nContent Knowledge: In-depth understanding of English subject curriculum, content standards, and learning objectives, as well as proficiency in subject-specific pedagogy, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.\nDifferentiation and Personalization: Skill in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and abilities of individual students, and personalizing learning experiences to engage and motivate students in the subject area.\nCommunication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and stakeholders, and to communicate subject-related concepts, feedback, and information clearly and effectively.\nTechnology Integration: Proficiency in integrating technology tools, digital resources, and educational software into subject-specific instruction to enhance learning experiences, engage students, and promote digital literacy and 21st-century skills.\nCultural Competence: Cultural sensitivity and awareness of diverse backgrounds, languages, and perspectives to create an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment that values and respects the contributions and identities of all students.\nReflective Practice: Commitment to ongoing reflection, self-assessment, and professional growth to continuously improve subject-specific teaching practice, refine pedagogical approaches, and respond effectively to the evolving needs and contexts of students and the school community.
