Senior Shopify Developer

About the Role

i95Dev is seeking a highly skilled Shopify Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience to lead an end-to-end Magento to Shopify Plus migration for one of our clients. You will own the full migration lifecycle — from data transfer and frontend theme development to Shopify Functions implementation and custom app creation — ensuring a seamless, performant, and business-aligned storefront launch.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Migration

• Lead the full Magento-to-Shopify Plus migration: products, customers, orders, content, and metadata
• Design and execute URL mapping strategies to preserve SEO equity and rankings
• Manage data integrity checks, redirects, and post-launch QA validation

Frontend Theme Development

• Build and customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JSON templates
• Develop pixel-perfect, fully responsive storefronts aligned with client brand identity
• Implement Online Store 2.0 architecture — sections, blocks, metafields, and metaobjects
• Optimize Core Web Vitals, page speed, and overall storefront performance

Shopify Functions

• Develop custom Shopify Functions in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Rust to extend platform logic
• Implement discount rules, cart/checkout validation, delivery and payment customizations
• Replicate or improve existing Magento-specific business rules using Functions

Custom App Development

• Design, build, and maintain custom Shopify apps (public or private) using Shopify CLI
• Work with Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, and Checkout API using GraphQL
• Build with modern frameworks: Node.js, React, Remix, or Next.js
• Deploy and manage apps on Shopify's app infrastructure

Integrations & Technical Operations

• Integrate Shopify with ERPs, PIMs, OMS, CRMs, and marketing platforms via APIs and webhooks
• Work with version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative development workflows
• Maintain clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer to internal teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional Shopify development experience with at least one complete Magento-to-Shopify migration
• Strong proficiency in Liquid templating and Shopify Online Store 2.0 architecture
• Proven experience building Shopify Functions in JavaScript, TypeScript, or Rust
• Track record of developing and deploying custom Shopify apps using Remix, Next.js, or similar
• Deep understanding of Shopify APIs (Admin, Storefront, Checkout, Payments) and GraphQL
• Solid familiarity with Magento 2 architecture — sufficient to assess and plan migration strategies
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile/collaborative development workflows
• Strong debugging, communication, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

• Shopify Partner certification or demonstrated contributions to the Shopify ecosystem
• Experience with Hydrogen (headless Shopify) or Oxygen hosting
• Background in B2B / wholesale Shopify implementations
• Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
• Experience with subscription apps, loyalty programs, or complex checkout customizations
