The Role

DAG is seeking an Executive / Senior Executive – Provenance to support the research and documentation processes surrounding its collection and institutional activities.

The role is suited to candidates with strong research and writing skills, attention to historical detail, and an interest in archives, collections, and art historical inquiry.


Key Responsibilities

• Draft and vet provenance-related documentation pertaining to DAG’s collection.

• Research and facilitate various technical and subjective aspects of DAG’s collection.

• Conduct provenance research and prepare post-sale documentation, including Authenticity Certificates and Provenance Certificates for artworks.

• Assist the manager in liaising with the art advisory teams in Delhi, Mumbai, and New York with information related to artists and artworks.

• Research artists’ biographies, dossiers, mediums, and techniques.

• Research auction sales and publication histories of artworks and artists.

• Coordinate information across the New York, Mumbai, and Delhi galleries.

• Coordinate artwork evaluation by external parties.

• Communicate and coordinate effectively with various departments across the organisation.

• Liaise with the CEO’s Office, including the CRM team, regarding provenance documentation and approvals.

• Coordinate artwork movement and related documentation processes.


Skills & Qualifications

• Good drafting and writing skills.

• Sound working knowledge of current standards of collections care and museum practices.

• Knowledge of artwork mediums and technology, including developments, processes, and basic technical elements.
