Payroll Analyst
THE ROLE
We are seeking a Payroll Analyst with deep expertise in Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) payroll operations, backed by strong general ledger (GL) knowledge, advanced Excel capabilities, and hands-on experience with AI-driven automation. You will be the regional subject-matter expert for APJ payroll, working in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment alongside HR, Finance, Legal, and third-party payroll vendors to ensure timely, compliant, and accurate monthly payroll delivery across a complex multi-country portfolio.
This is a key senior individual contributor role within our Global Payroll team based in Bangalore. You will bring curiosity, ownership, and a digital-transformation mindset - identifying process gaps, driving automation, and raising the standard of payroll excellence across the APJ region and beyond.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
APJ Payroll Operations
- Own end-to-end monthly payroll processing across all APJ countries in scope, partnering with in-country vendors and managed service providers (MSPs) to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Act as the primary escalation point for APJ payroll queries from employees, HR Business Partners, and Finance - resolving issues via the ticketing system with high-quality, timely follow-up.
- Validate and reconcile Workday data extracts (new hires, terminations, salary changes, leave, allowances, bank details) against vendor payroll inputs each cycle.
- Manage APJ-specific payroll inputs: 13th month pay, mandatory bonuses (e.g. Australia Superannuation, Japan Shakai Hoken contributions, Singapore CPF, India PF/ESI, Vietnam SHUI), statutory leave accruals, and equity-related inputs (RSU, ESPP).
- Coordinate and review off-cycle and ad hoc payments across APJ jurisdictions, ensuring proper authorisation and documentation.
- Manage the payroll calendar across multiple time zones, cut-off dates, and public holiday schedules for APJ countries.
GL, Accounting & Reconciliation
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries; perform GL-to-payroll reconciliation and variance analysis (delta reports) for all APJ entities.
- Execute post-payroll reconciliations including bank file vs. GTN, headcount reconciliations, and social insurance / tax contribution validations.
- Support month-end close activities: accruals, cost centre allocations, and intercompany recharges for APJ payroll costs.
- Partner with the Finance team to ensure payroll GL mapping is accurate and consistent with the corporate chart of accounts.
Compliance & Statutory Obligations
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of APJ statutory payroll requirements - tax, social security, pension, minimum wage, and mandatory leave - across Australia, Japan, Singapore, India, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
- Support year-end statutory filing and reporting obligations (e.g. Australia STP/Payment Summary, Japan withholding tax summary, Singapore IR8A, India Form 16, South Korea year-end settlement).
- Ensure all payroll processes comply with GDPR, PDPA, and applicable local data privacy laws for APJ employee data.
- Support external and internal payroll audits, providing documentation and reconciliation evidence as required.
AI, Automation & Process Improvement
- Leverage AI-driven tools (e.g. ChatGPT/Claude for policy and statutory change summaries, AI-assisted anomaly detection, RPA for reconciliation workflows) to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
- Identify and implement process improvements across the payroll cycle - from input validation through to GL posting - using data insights and automation.
- Build and maintain Power BI / Excel dashboards for APJ payroll KPIs: headcount, cost variance, cycle time, error rates, and compliance metrics.
- Contribute to global payroll transformation projects, including new country implementations and system upgrades.
- Document and maintain SOPs for all APJ payroll processes, ensuring knowledge transfer and business continuity.
We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the {{OFFICE_LOCATION}} office in compliance with Everpure's policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
WHAT YOU BRING
