Job Description
Role Overview:
The Film Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and inquiry-based Film education in accordance with the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy. The teacher develops students' understanding of filmmaking, visual storytelling, media analysis, and film production while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver Film lessons aligned with IB MYP and/or DP Film curriculum requirements.
- Teach film theory, cinematic language, film history, media literacy, and critical film analysis.
- Guide students through practical filmmaking projects including scripting, directing, cinematography, sound design, editing, and post-production.
- Develop students' creative and technical skills using industry-standard film production and editing software.
- Assess student work using IB assessment criteria and provide constructive feedback.
- Support students in creating portfolios, film projects, and IB internal assessments.
- Organize film screenings, exhibitions, festivals, and showcase events.
- Encourage inquiry-based, collaborative, and project-based learning experiences.
- Maintain film equipment, studio resources, and digital media assets.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and school events.
- Participate in parent meetings, professional development programs, and school initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Film Studies, Cinema, Media Studies, Mass Communication,
- IB MYP/DP Film teaching experience preferred.
- Proficiency in filmmaking and editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, etc.
