As a Software Engineering Architect at Kyndryl, you will be responsible for leading the charge in creating technical blueprints, defining product/solution architecture, and developing the technical specifications for our projects. You'll be a key player in integrating the features of our software applications into a cohesive and functioning system.\nThis role is responsible for shaping and owning the enterprise data platform architecture across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
It focuses on modernizing and consolidating data engineering, analytics, BI, data science, and AI/ML platforms while establishing scalable, secure, governed, and reusable architecture patterns. The role also enables a future-ready data foundation to support Dataiku-based analytics, AI/ML workflows, Agentic AI use cases, and regulatory reporting.\n\nKey Responsibilities\nDefine enterprise data platform strategy, target-state architecture, roadmaps, standards, and reusable reference patterns.\n\nRationalize and modernize legacy/overlapping tools such as SAP BODS, Oracle Data Integrator, BusinessObjects, Qlik, Power BI, MicroStrategy, and multiple Dataiku instances.\n\nArchitect robust data pipelines for batch, API-based, event-driven, and cloud-native data integration.\n\nDesign scalable data engineering patterns using SQL, Python, ETL/ELT, APIs, data warehouse, data lake, and cloud-native services.\n\nEnable data science and AI/ML workflows including Dataiku, model lifecycle, feature engineering, model monitoring, traceability, and explainability.\n\nDefine architecture for governed Agentic AI capabilities that consume trusted enterprise data and integrate with business/workflow systems.\n\nEstablish data governance standards for data quality, lineage, metadata, access control, privacy, retention, auditability, and compliance.\n\nDrive cloud adoption through Azure landing zone-aligned data architecture, Azure-native monitoring, automation, and security controls.\n\nEmbed DevSecOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, golden paths, and self-service patterns for data platform delivery.\n\nPartner with data engineers, data scientists, application teams, security architects, cloud architects, and business stakeholders.\n\nAs a valued member of our team, you will provide work estimates for assigned development work, and guide features, functional objectives, or technologies being built for interested parties. And finally, you're open and borderless - naturally inclusive in how you work with others.\nRequired Technical and Professional Experience\n15-18+ years of experience in data architecture, enterprise architecture, data engineering, analytics, or cloud platform architecture.\n\n10+ years in a senior architect or enterprise architect role leading complex data platform transformation initiatives.\n\nProven experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms across on-premises, hybrid, and Azure cloud environments.\n\nStrong experience in data platform modernization, tool rationalization, cloud migration, governance, and operating model transformation.\n\nExperience in regulated industries such as banking, financial services, insurance, or other compliance-heavy environments.\n\nStrong stakeholder management, architecture governance, technical leadership, and mentoring capabilities.\n\nData Engineering: SQL, Python, ETL/ELT, APIs, batch processing, data pipelines, data quality, metadata, and lineage.\n\nCloud & Azure: Azure Landing Zone, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Azure Resource Graph, Azure Policy, Azure Automation, Logic Apps, Functions, and Azure DevOps.\n\nDatabases: Oracle, Oracle ExaCC, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB.\n\nAnalytics & BI: Power BI, MicroStrategy, BusinessObjects, QlikView, Qlik Sense, and enterprise reporting platforms.\n\nData Science & AI/ML: Dataiku, AI/ML workflows, predictive analytics, model lifecycle, MLOps concepts, and Agentic AI enablement.\n\nDevOps & Platform Engineering: GitLab, Jenkins, Terraform, Backstage IDP, CI/CD pipelines, Nexus, Azure Artifacts, and Azure Container Registry.\n\nSecurity & Governance: RBAC, encryption, access control, GDPR, auditability, policy-as-code, compliance evidence, and secure-by-design architecture.\n\nObservability: ELK/Elastic Stack, OpenTelemetry, Azure Monitor, AIOps, Kyndryl Bridge, Zabbix, and ServiceNow integration.\n\nHOPEX enterprise architecture tool experience\n\nPreferred Technical and Professional Experience\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.\n\nCertifications such as TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, Azure AI Engineer, or equivalent are preferred.\n\nExposure to regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CSSF, ECB, SWIFT, audit controls, and operational resilience is desirable.\n\nBeing You\nThe "Kyn" in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
