SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Solution Architect (S/4HANA)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) Solution Architect with deep expertise in SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Mode (Cloud Edition architecture) to lead the design and adoption of next-generation master data governance capabilities within our global SAP S/4HANA transformation program.

Our organization is currently operating SAP MDG in a co-deployment model with SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud. SAP MDG Classic Mode has been implemented for:

• Business Partner – Customer
• Business Partner – Supplier
• Material Master

Multiple global releases have been successfully deployed, with additional country and regional rollouts planned.

As part of our MDG roadmap, we are evaluating and planning the adoption of SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Mode for Business Partner governance processes. The selected candidate will provide architecture leadership for the implementation of Customer and Supplier governance in Cloud-Ready Mode and help define a long-term transition strategy from Classic Mode to Cloud-Ready Mode. The candidate will work with global and regional process and technology owners, enterprise architects, functional and technical analysts, basis and security administrators to build proof of concept (POC’s) and architect, design, build, extend, and implement SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Mode applications.

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on implementation experience with SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Mode, strong understanding of process-template-based governance, workflow orchestration, SAP Fiori applications, integration architecture, and migration approaches from Classic Mode.

Key Responsibilities

SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Architecture

• Define and own the SAP MDG Cloud-Ready architecture for Business Partner governance.
• Design scalable governance solutions for:
• Business Partner – Customer
• Business Partner – Supplier
• Lead solution design workshops with business and IT stakeholders.
• Develop architecture standards, governance patterns, and implementation guidelines for future global rollouts.
• Ensure alignment with SAP’s strategic Cloud-Ready Mode roadmap and best practices.

Classic Mode to Cloud-Ready Mode Transformation

• Assess existing SAP MDG Classic Mode processes, workflows, data models, UI extensions, and integrations.
• Develop migration and coexistence strategies between:
• MDG Classic Mode
• MDG Cloud-Ready Mode
• Identify process redesign opportunities required due to architectural differences between the two frameworks.
• Provide recommendations regarding phased migration, coexistence, and governance operating models.

Workflow Architecture

• Design and govern workflow architecture for SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Mode using Process Templates and process-based governance patterns.
• Define governance processes for Customer and Supplier master data domains including creation, change, approval, activation, mass processing and data quality validation scenarios.
• Lead the transition from Classic Mode Change Request and BRF+ workflow architecture to Cloud-Ready Process Template architecture.
• Assess existing BRF+ workflow configurations and develop migration strategies for Cloud-Ready Mode implementations.
• Design and configure Process Templates, activities, tasks, approval stages, process states, and process transitions.
• Define workflow approval patterns including sequential approvals, parallel approvals, review cycles, rework loops, and exception handling processes.
• Design participant determination and responsibility assignment strategies for governance processes.
• Define SAP Fiori My Inbox workflow experiences for governance users, reviewers, approvers, and data stewards.
• Design workflow monitoring, process analytics, auditability, and governance KPI reporting capabilities.
• Evaluate and implement workflow extensibility requirements using:
• Standard Cloud-Ready Process Template capabilities
• SAP Build Process Automation
• SAP Business Workflow integration
• SAP BTP workflow services where appropriate
• Define coexistence strategies where Classic Mode and Cloud-Ready Mode governance processes operate in parallel during phased migration programs.
• Provide architecture guidance on workflow scalability, maintainability, clean-core compliance, and SAP roadmap alignment.

User Experience Architecture

• SAP Fiori and User Experience Architecture
• Define user experience strategy for Cloud-Ready governance applications.
• Lead transition from Classic Mode Web Dynpro/FPM-based applications to modern SAP Fiori applications.
• Define extension and adaptation approaches for Cloud-Ready Fiori applications.
• Ensure usability and governance process efficiency across global user communities.

Integration Architecture

• Define inbound and outbound integration architecture for Customer and Supplier master data.
• Guide implementation of:
• Business Partner inbound services
• Outbound replication
• Enterprise service integration
• SAP Integration Suite integrations
• Ensure governance processes remain aligned with enterprise integration standards.

Architecture Governance and Leadership

• Serve as the MDG Cloud-Ready subject matter expert and solution authority.
• Author as well as review functional and technical designs produced by implementation teams.
• Mentor MDG functional consultants, developers, and integration specialists.
• Collaborate with SAP, system integrators, and architecture review boards.
• Provide roadmap recommendations for future adoption of additional Cloud-Ready domains as SAP expands support beyond Business Partner.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of SAP implementation experience.
• 5+ years of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) experience.
• 2+ years of SAP MDG Cloud-Ready Mode or SAP MDG Cloud Edition experience.
• Multiple full lifecycle SAP MDG implementations.
• Demonstrated experience implementing:

• Experience in global SAP S/4HANA digital transformations.
