2. Job Summary

Oracle Customer Success Services (CSS) is seeking an experienced Senior Oracle DBA to provide expert-level database administration, engineering, and support services for enterprise customers. This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, security, and recoverability of Oracle database environments while supporting complex migrations, upgrades, and high-availability architectures.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Oracle Database technologies, including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, RMAN, and Exadata, combined with strong troubleshooting, automation, and customer-facing skills.


3. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced Oracle database administration, engineering, and technical support for enterprise customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex database issues related to performance, availability, backup/recovery, and infrastructure integration.
  • Design, implement, and manage high-availability solutions using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and Data Guard Broker.
  • Develop and execute backup, recovery, disaster recovery, migration, and upgrade strategies utilizing RMAN and Oracle best practices.
  • Monitor database health and performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring platforms, proactively identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Automate operational and administrative tasks using Shell, Perl, Python, Ansible, or equivalent automation frameworks.
  • Support Oracle Engineered Systems, including Exadata, and contribute to performance tuning and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless database operations, incident resolution, and customer success.
  • Document technical solutions, operational procedures, and best practices to improve knowledge sharing and service delivery.
  • Maintain working knowledge of operating systems, virtualization technologies, and enterprise storage platforms to support end-to-end database environments.


4. Qualifications & Skills

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) or Oracle Database Engineer.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • Oracle RAC
  • ASM (Automatic Storage Management)
  • Oracle Data Guard and Data Guard Broker
  • Database Performance Tuning and Optimization
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager
  • Extensive experience with RMAN-based backup, recovery, and disaster recovery implementations.
  • Proven experience executing Oracle database migrations, upgrades, and platform transitions.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Shell, Perl, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience implementing infrastructure automation using Ansible.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage directly with customers and technical teams.

Good-to-Have

  • Experience with Oracle Exadata and other Oracle Engineered Systems.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Goldengate replication technologies.
  • Familiarity with Grafana monitoring and observability tools.
  • Operating system administration experience with Linux and/or Solaris.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and enterprise storage platforms.
  • Experience with Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance and Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA).
  • Oracle Database certifications.
