Software Engineer (SDE-2)

Role Overview
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team at SolarWinds. This role requires solid software engineering fundamentals, the ability to independently deliver well-scoped features, and a collaborative approach to building reliable, scalable, and secure software. The team is responsible for developing and improving foundational platform capabilities that support product innovation and engineering excellence across SolarWinds.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and services.
• Deliver well-scoped features, enhancements, and bug fixes with high quality and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices across the team.
• Write and maintain unit tests and automated tests to support stable releases.
• Troubleshoot defects and production issues and implement durable fixes.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver customer-focused solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software engineering experience through full-time work, internships, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, or similar.
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with version control, debugging, testing, and modern software development practices.
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, and distributed application fundamentals.
• Ability to break down tasks, estimate work, and deliver quality code with limited supervision.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
