Position Summary
The Scrum Master is responsible for enabling Agile delivery excellence for the RMF product line by serving as a servant leader, facilitator, and coach for cross-functional product and engineering teams. This role ensures effective adoption of Scrum principles, Agile ways of working, and continuous improvement practices to drive predictable, high-quality delivery outcomes.
The role is expected to facilitate core Scrum ceremonies, remove delivery impediments, improve team collaboration, enable backlog and sprint readiness, and promote visibility through Agile metrics and reporting. The Scrum Master will work closely with product owners, engineering teams, and stakeholders to strengthen team effectiveness, support release planning, and build a sustainable culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Scrum Facilitation & Agile Ceremonies
- Facilitate core Scrum / SAFe ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives to ensure effective team execution and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Agile ceremonies are well-structured, time-boxed, outcome-oriented, and aligned to sprint, iteration, and product goals.
- Promote effective execution of Agile processes and frameworks by reinforcing team discipline, transparency, and adherence to agreed ways of working.
- Help the team maintain clear sprint goals, priorities, and definition of done to support focus and predictable delivery.
- Drive strong participation and collaboration across Agile ceremonies and working sessions.
- Protect the team from avoidable disruptions and create an environment conducive to focused sprint execution.
Delivery Execution & Impediment Management
- Identify and remove blockers, impediments, risks, and dependencies impacting team velocity, sprint commitments, and delivery outcomes.
- Drive timely resolution of cross-team issues and escalate unresolved concerns when they affect delivery commitments.
- Partner with engineering teams, product owners, and stakeholders to improve backlog readiness, sprint planning effectiveness, and delivery predictability.
- Support the team in managing risks, breaking down work, and aligning on achievable sprint scope based on capacity and priorities.
- Enable strong release planning and execution discipline through follow-through on actions, decisions, and delivery commitments.
Agile Coaching & Team Effectiveness
- Coach teams on Agile principles, Scrum values, self-organization, and collaboration to improve team maturity and delivery effectiveness.
- Promote continuous improvement and Agile mindset adoption through retrospectives, coaching interventions, and measurable follow-through on improvement actions.
- Support product owners in backlog refinement, story readiness, prioritization discussions, and stakeholder alignment.
- Help teams strengthen communication, ownership, accountability, and problem-solving without relying on command-and-control behaviors.
- Enable teams to adopt best practices and standards that improve flow, quality, collaboration, and sustainable delivery.
Metrics, Governance & Agile Reporting
- Track and communicate key Agile delivery metrics such as sprint progress, velocity trends, burndown/burnup, impediments, and release readiness.
- Maintain delivery visibility using Agile tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar platforms.
- Support leadership and stakeholders with concise reporting on risks, blockers, team health, and delivery status.
- Drive process consistency, inspect delivery patterns, and recommend improvements that enhance predictability and flow.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Enablement
- Work closely with Product Owners, architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to improve alignment, prioritization, and decision-making.
- Represent the team in cross-team Agile events such as Scrum of Scrums, PI Planning, dependency discussions, and program-level coordination forums.
- Support broader Agile adoption by helping teams and stakeholders understand effective Scrum and SAFe practices and delivery expectations.
- Contribute to organizational change by promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable Agile ways of working across distributed teams.
Required Skills / Qualifications
- 7–12 years of experience in SAFe Agile development environments, with exposure to enterprise software delivery and cross-functional team collaboration.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Scrum Master supporting distributed or geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong understanding of Scrum principles, Agile practices, leadership, and team coaching.
- Hands-on experience facilitating Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum / Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Experience identifying and removing impediments, managing risks, and coordinating dependencies across teams.
- Experience working closely with Product Owners on backlog readiness, story clarity, prioritization, and sprint planning effectiveness.
- Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) dashboards, boards, queries, or equivalent Agile tooling for planning, tracking, and reporting.
- Good understanding of Agile metrics such as velocity, burndown, throughput, cycle time, and release readiness indicators.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and foster trust, accountability, and collaboration across distributed teams.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement and Agile transformation initiatives at team or product line level.
- Strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, global delivery setup.
Secondary / Preferred Skills
- SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) experience in Agile Release Train or program-level delivery setups.
- Relevant Scrum Master / SAFe certifications such as CSM, PSM, or SAFe Scrum Master.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale Agile environments with multiple teams and complex dependencies.
- Exposure to Kanban, Lean, flow metrics, or hybrid Agile delivery models.
- Familiarity with release planning, dependency mapping, PI Planning, and portfolio/program coordination.
- Awareness of engineering practices such as CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-based product delivery is a plus.
- Experience supporting distributed teams across geographies and time zones.
- Exposure to AI-assisted productivity tools or modern delivery optimization practices is an added advantage.
