Your area of work:
As part of Deutsche Börse Group’s digital transformation and cloud migration journey, the Big Data & Advanced Analytics (BDAA) team is seeking Head of Data & AI Platform Operations. This role focuses on building and establishing Data Platform Operations team to ensure our data platform operational excellence, covering day-to-day health monitoring, platform monitoring toolset enhancements, maintain the Databricks workspaces and handle the end-user business requests.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and scale the Data & AI Platform Operations team.
- Oversee day-to-day platform stability, and reliability for our Databricks platform.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain Databricks workspaces to manage operational framework configurations: clusters, libraries, policies, access control and governance structures using Unity Catalog.
- Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, observability, and logging frameworks.
- Proactively identify issues, perform troubleshooting, and lead incident response and root, cause analyses to adhere to platform SLAs/SLOs.
- Lead/oversee development of automation scripts (Python, Terraform, CLI) to streamline repetitive tasks and operational workflows.
- Design and contribute to operational handbooks, knowledge base, and technical documentation.
Your Profile:
- Proven experience leading and developing highly performing technical teams in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with distributed teams across multiple geographical locations and time zones.
- Strong background in cloud technologies and cloud native operations (e.g., Azure or GCP), with understanding of cloud service lifecycles and operational patterns.
- Solid knowledge of data engineering ecosystems (preferably Databricks), familiarity with Data Mesh paradigm.
- Experience with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Azure Monitor, Splunk, Grafana).
- Understanding data management & governance principles, platform monitoring, and ITIL processes.
