Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Backend Developer role based in Bengaluru. The Backend Developer will design, build, and maintain scalable server-side applications and APIs that power Torqis Horizons’ digital platforms, including ExaltRide. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing business logic, integrating with third-party services, managing databases, and ensuring application performance, reliability, and security. The role involves collaborating closely with front-end developers, product managers, and QA to deliver new features, optimize existing functionality, and resolve technical issues. The Backend Developer will also participate in code reviews, contribute to architecture decisions, and help improve development processes and tooling.

Key Responsibility

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and backend services
• Collaborate with developers through code reviews and technical discussions
• Architect and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP
• Integrate AI agents for recommendations, logistics, and customer engagement
• Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and migrations
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
• Integrate payment gateways, shipping providers, OTP, email, and SMS services
• Implement security best practices across applications and infrastructure
• Monitor system performance, logging, alerting, and incident response
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and data teams to deliver scalable business solutions

Required Skills

• Backend Development: Strong experience with Node.js, Python, or Java, including building scalable backend services and RESTful APIs.
• API & Security: Experience with REST APIs, JWT, OAuth, API documentation, request validation, rate limiting, authentication, authorization, and web security best practices.
• Databases & Performance: Hands-on experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, database design, query optimization, indexing, caching with Redis, and background job processing.
• Cloud & DevOps: Proficiency with AWS (Lambda, S3, EC2, RDS), GCP, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Linux environments, and Git-based workflows. Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
• Integrations: Experience integrating payment gateways, shipping providers, email/SMS services, OTP systems, webhooks, and other third-party services.
• AI & E-Commerce: Exposure to AI agents, automation workflows, and e-commerce platforms, including payment and logistics ecosystems.
• Testing & Monitoring: Knowledge of unit and integration testing, debugging, application monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Nice to Have: TypeScript, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Elasticsearch, microservices architecture, and event-driven systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Strong expertise in at least two of the following: Node.js, Python, Java
• Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly Lambda and S3
• Experience building or integrating AI-powered applications
• Experience working on e-commerce platforms
• Strong understanding of API security, database design, and performance optimization
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
