Lead System Engineer - SDWAN

Role Summary

The Lead System Engineer - SDWAN is responsible for advanced operations, troubleshooting, and support of enterprise WAN and SDWAN environments. This role serves as a senior technical escalation point, ensuring network stability, performance optimization, and adherence to design and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide L3 level support for WAN, MPLS, and SDWAN technologies in production environments.
• Handle complex WAN incidents and chronic problems, ensuring root cause analysis and permanent fix implementation.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting across SDWAN overlays, underlays, QoS, routing, and security integrations.
• Participate in network lifecycle activities including deployment, migration, upgrades, and optimization.
• Review and validate WAN/SDWAN designs and configurations against enterprise standards.
• Support change management activities including implementation planning, risk assessment, and rollback strategies.
• Work closely with L4 architects and consultants for design clarifications and solution enhancements.
• Use monitoring and analysis tools such as Wireshark, Splunk, Netscout, ThousandEyes, and internal HCS tools.
• Automate recurring operational tasks using Python and Ansible.
• Contribute to problem management, documentation, and knowledge base creation.
• Provide technical inputs and status updates to service managers and stakeholders.

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong handson experience with Traditional WAN, MPLS, and SDWAN.
• Deep operational expertise with Cisco WAN and SDWAN solutions.
• Advanced troubleshooting experience in highavailability production environments.
• Proficiency with Python and Ansible for automation and troubleshooting support.
• Strong understanding of routing protocols, QoS, VPNs, and WAN performance optimization.
• Experience with network monitoring and packet analysis tools.

Experience & Qualifications

• 8-12 years of experience in network operations and WAN projects.
• Proven experience working in 24x7 enterprise production environments.
