About The Client:

Essential Job Functions:
Database Installation & Configuration
- Install, configure, and upgrade MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) instances.
- Install and manage environments (on Linux/Windows).
- Configure instances, services, memory, I/O, and database parameter tuning.
- Analyze and tune slow running queries, indexes, and stored procedures.
- Conduct performance analysis using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Execution Plans.
- For PostgreSQL: use pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN, VACUUM, ANALYZE for optimization.
- Resolve locking/blocking, deadlocks, waits, and high resource queries.
- MS SQL Server
- Configure & manage Full/Diff/Log backups, maintenance plans.
- Perform DB restore during corruption, human error, or system failures.
- Implement Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Mirroring.
- Security, Compliance & Patch Management
- Implement user management, RBAC, encryption at rest & transit (SSL/TLS).
- Apply patches, cumulative updates, PostgreSQL minor/major upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with BFSI, ISO, PCI DSS, or internal audit requirements.
- Monitor vulnerabilities and apply security hardening.
- Provide 24×7 support for critical databases (on call rotation).
- Manage incidents, service requests, and change controls (ITIL).
- Monitor using SQL Server Agent, pgAdmin, Grafana, Prometheus, or OEM-like tools.
- Develop automation using PowerShell, T SQL, Shell scripting, or Python.
- Automate backups, checks, alerts, index maintenance, health checks, log cleanup.
Skill:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- SQL Server 2014–2022 administration
- SSMS, SQL Agent, SSRS/SSIS (optional)
- Always On, Log Shipping, Clustering
- Index tuning, statistics, partitioning
- Query Store, DMVs, and extended events
