About The Job:
- We are seeking a detail-oriented and domain-aware UX Designer to design intuitive, efficient, and operator-friendly experiences for Manufacturing and MES platforms such as SAP Manufacturing Execution, Ignition Platform, and Rockwell FactoryTalk (or similar systems).
- This role focuses on improving shop-floor usability, production visibility, quality workflows, and real-time operational decision-making.
- The ideal candidate understands industrial environments and designs for operators, supervisors, planners, and plant leadership.
- Mandate : should have worked on MES or manufacturing systems. designed dashboards with KPIs like OEE or production data.
- worked on operator-facing systems (not customers).
- Strictly focus on UX Designers from manufacturing / industrial / ERP background.
- basic expectation is that candidate should have a great hands-on : Figma / Adobe XD / Sketch + MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) which is SAP manufacturing execution + .
- UX Processes : User personas (operators, supervisors) + Workflow mapping + Wireframes + prototypes + Usability improvements of existing systems.
- Industrial UX : Touchscreens / tablets / shop-floor terminals + Low-complexity interfaces for operators + Real-time alerts & monitoring.
- Data + Dashboard UX : KPI dashboards (OEE + Throughput + Downtime + Scrap rates).
- Manufacturing Understanding: Production workflows + Shop-floor operations + Work orders / downtime / traceability + Quality processes. 5-8 years
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop user personas (machine operators, line supervisors, quality inspectors, planners).
- Map production workflows including work orders, quality checks, downtime logging, and traceability.
- Identify usability gaps in already funtional MES systems.
- Design intuitive dashboards for production monitoring (OEE, downtime, yield).
- Simplify shop-floor data entry interfaces.
- Improve usability of work instruction screens and quality control modules.
- Optimize real-time alerting and exception management interfaces.
- Design for touchscreens, tablets, and industrial terminals
- Create clear visual representations of KPIs such as:OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), Throughput, Scrap rates, Downtime categories
- Support digital shop-floor initiatives and smart factory programs.
- Create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Develop reusable UI components for industrial applications.
Qualifications:
Mandatory Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, HCI, Industrial Design, or related field.
- 5–8 years of UX experience, with at least 2–3 years in manufacturing or enterprise applications.
- Experience designing for MES, ERP manufacturing modules, or shop-floor systems.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating workflow simplification and dashboard design.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or similar tools.
- Understanding of manufacturing KPIs and operational processes.
Good to Have (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience working with SAP Manufacturing, Siemens Opcenter, or similar MES tools.
- Exposure to Industry 4.0, IoT, or Smart Factory initiatives.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA manufacturing modules.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
- Experience designing for multilingual global plants.
