Job Summary
As an AWS L2 Support Engineer, you'll handle escalated, complex technical issues related to AWS infrastructure. This includes troubleshooting connectivity issues, automating routine tasks, and working closely with 3rd line engineers, solution architects, and developers to maintain system reliability. This role requires extensive AWS experience, strong scripting skills, and an understanding of AWS best practices to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of escalated, second-line incidents from the L1 support team, providing timely resolutions for issues across AWS services.
- Troubleshoot advanced AWS issues related to network configurations, system connectivity, and performance optimization.
- Manage and maintain AWS cloud-based systems, ensuring their availability, scalability, and security.
- Conduct system monitoring and health checks across AWS services like EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, and VPC, using CloudWatch and other monitoring tools.
- Automate routine maintenance tasks such as scaling, backups, and updates using AWS CLI, CloudFormation, and Lambda.
- Develop scripts for system automation, performance tuning, and incident resolution using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Collaborate with 3rd line engineers, solution architects, and developers on complex issues, implementing long-term solutions to recurring problems.
- Assist with security and compliance checks, implementing best practices for IAM, encryption, and VPN configurations.
- Document solutions, update system documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures related to AWS infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- AWS certification (AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or SysOps Administrator preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in cloud support, with extensive AWS knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong understanding of AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda) and cloud best practices.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Experience with AWS monitoring (CloudWatch), CloudFormation, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Solid understanding of AWS security, including IAM, encryption, and VPN.
Key Skills
- Proficiency with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with system performance optimization.
- Advanced networking, Linux/Windows administration, and scripting for automation.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch), CloudFormation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Excellent communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
